"Quinn" is a name that means, "wisdom; reason; intelligence".

Her motto is, "There's failure, and then there's not trying."

Personality:

Quinn has never talked that much to others in her early past, but she sure tried to. She worked hard on becoming more of an extrovert because she wanted to get to know everyone, and learn who her friends and enemies are. Now, she's more used to socializing than she was back then and enjoys the company of almost anyone that she gets along with. She suffers with anxiety though, and can have random attacks at random times, and tends to worry about almost everything - most likely that maybe something will happen to a good friend or a family member of hers. Despite her best efforts, she's always found it easier to look at the negative side and expect the worst for just in case. The problem is, no matter how hard she tries to numb her feelings through this technique, it never works. She cares about her friends and family, and starts getting emotional and crying when trying to imagine something horrible happening to any of them, especially since she knows that she's not very great at fighting or finding any other method to provide protection.

When the terrifying war against the humans began (see the backstory), Quinn started having panic attacks more than usual - which happens a lot as it is - since she knew how powerful they were, and because she assumed they would probably be coming for her and those closest to her. What she wants more than anything is to be stronger and know how to fight - not just the humans, but her own complex and devastating thoughts (such as "What-ifs" and just overall letting her imagination run away from her) and emotions eating away at her mind as well - but she fears that she'll never be able to, at least not in time. She idolizes and takes after the older dogs out on the streets as well, copying and learning from their methods and ideas for everything, including battle. She is a very slow learner and it takes a lot of work for her to get something right, but she tries her best to be ready and prepared for whatever is to come.

Despite her frightening past (see backstory) and depressing traits though, Quinn always manages to put it all behind when when everyone needs her the most. Even though she doesn't believe that she can do enough to help, she'd take a bullet for them any day. And despite the fact that she doesn't believe most of the reassurance she provides to calm them down, almost everyone around her looks up to her as a leader and an inspiration because of the time they spent with her that lifted their spirits.

Backstory:

As quoted by the creator [but also edited by me]:

❝ The water was cooling as Quinn slowly entered her webbed paw into it, letting the feeling of the refreshing ocean flow throughout her body yet again. Shivering with delight, she hurriedly splashed into the ocean, her beautiful lemon-shaded fur taking in the saltiness of the bright blue ocean, with her scaly magenta (with markings the shade of deep cyan) shark tail swishing and swaying against the current of the ocean, helping her stay afloat. The reflection on the sunlight of the water gave her fur a slight shade of a lighter orange, which blended in perfectly with the background of the spectacular horizon.

Although, it was not always as leisure and peaceful for the young shark-dog, as, after all, she was the result of an experimentation gone wrong. Floating on the water with her fluffy belly towards the brilliant orange sky, her memory of her past failed to give her peace of mind. Quinn frowned as she remembered the treacherous things that were done to her: needles, operations, tests, and unnecessary medication. She had already suffered so much at such a young age because of them that she had begun to think of just giving up. They didn’t let her though; she was always to be always kept alive for their own gain, whatever it took.

She used to be just a normal dog on the streets, entertaining people to get food, just like any other dog would in this situation, until one fateful day, when her horrible nightmare come true: she was shoved into the back of a minivan and trapped there. She feared for her life because she could already tell they weren’t trustworthy people. She was right; they were all part of an experiment to test out the possibilities of hybrid animals and animals with powers and/or abilities. Those that had genes would be almost impossible to mix; yet they tried doing so, which in turn forced the animals they had captured to suffer. Because of her fears (see personality), it was almost too difficult for Quinn to think with a clear mind when she was taken away by the humans and put into a minivan for the lab test. She kept screaming and lashing out, pounding against the cage that she shared with other animals - a mix of those she knew and those she didn't. However, once she was able to think straight, she did what she could to reassure her friends that it would be okay and that they would be able to escape, even though she didn't really believe it herself. Over the course of the experiments when they all got to the lab, she had gained gills (but kept her lungs as well), webbed paws, retractable teeth, and a shark-like tail. She was then half-shark!

How she had escaped that terrible institute was a miracle in itself: an employee of the facility had forgotten to securely lock all of the cages. That was her chance; her chance to gain freedom once more. She jumped out and ran. She never stopped, not once, while hearing the sound of men shouting. Even though there were chasing footsteps behind her, she didn’t stop, even long after the footsteps and voices had faded away. She kept running until she finally reached a beautiful ocean. No one was there. Quinn was alone, and finally free. ❞
