Zi met Cayde when he first came to the Tower. Considering he was a Hunter, of course he had to meet the leader of them. Zi was rather awkward, not knowing how to interact with such an outgoing personality, but he managed. Later on that night he'd properly get to know the Exo in his favourite Ramen shop. And their friendship would slowly grow into something more overtime.

The two were both jokesters; usually playing pranks on the other Vanguard members or New Lights. But when alone, their relationship becomes tender and soft.

The impact Cayde had on Zi's life was amazing, bringing the shy Hunter out of his shell. And when he found out Cayde died, it ruined him...

Zi's relationship with Crow was super rocky at first considering that Crow was once Uldren Sov, the man who killed Cayde. Now a Guardian with no memory of who he once was, Crow was of course confused at Zi's hostility towards him.

Zi would grow closer to Crow during Season of Lost when Crow gained Uldren's memories back. The Hunter would comfort the new light, admitting just how much he was not like the man he was before being resurrected.

During Season of the Haunted, Zi and Crow finally cemented their relationship as friends. Zi was supportive when the Uldren nightmare haunted Crow. And he was there for Zi when Uldren would mock Zi for the death of Cayde.

During Season of Seraph, Zi would begin to experience feelings for his fellow Awoken, yet afraid to act on them due to his love for Cayde still remaining. Crow would end up acting on his feelings and the two promised to take it slow and to respect the walls that Zi had put up years ago. But Crow knew one day he'd break them down. he couldn't replace Cayde, but he could heal Zi...

Genesis looks up to Zi and for a time, Zi hated it. He thought he was not one to look up to as during the time the Exo would follow him around like a lost duckling, Zi was still extremely depressed and reclusive. But it turns out, Gen was someone Zi needed as day by day, Zi would begin to talk more and open up to her then he would begin to talk to her Fireteam again.

Zi would soon agree to mentor her. And it never escaped his mind that the young Exo looked and acted a lot like Cayde. Thinking it was a sign, he promised to train her to maybe one day become the new Hunter Vanguard. And Gen, being the naïve young girl, thought she could live up to this expectation.

After her first reboot however, Gen would begin clashing heads with Zi until she snapped at him, blaming him for Cayde's death. 

Ever since then, the two have been rather distant from each other. And Zi hates it...
