Relations: Elera is his grandmother, but he doesn't know anything about her.
Katrina is his boss and coworker in the repair shop he works in. He appreciates her company and tries his best to help out, but doesn't want to become too attached to her so he focuses on his job instead.
Amidias is a friendly cyborg who lives in a metal shack in a forest, near a closed mine he used to work in, which is also near a town. He loves to interact with people, share knowledge, and is a fairly cheerful and chatty fella around others. Generally, he's a calm, curious, caring and patient guy who's sort of stuck in the past, closed off and lonely, yet still kind. Amidias can get emotional at times, but it's hard to get him truly mad. He's also a pacifist, so fighting and yelling is a last resort. He has a soft spot for children, so he is protective of them and due to his strength he doesn't hesitate protecting people in trouble, if he is capable to do so. Usually tries to keep relationships with others shallow in fear of losing them (though most likely sometimes fails to do so).
Works in a small household appliances repair shop with Katrina. He's great at engineering and fixing things. Amidias can also help with fixing prosthetics, robotic limbs and cars (as he's helped repairing mining equipment before and has repaired himself numerous times), but he's not a professional in these. Although he would certainly try to learn and help with anything unfamiliar he comes across.
He likes to draw and note down interesting things that he saw or that had happened in his sketchbook, he's also good at cooking. Can make food such as zeppelins, soup, cupcakes, some European, specifically, Lithuanian dishes (due to someone teaching him them). Generally most stuff that can be homemade. Enjoys walks around the forest and visiting the lake in it (the non-cyborg version would also jog outside and do some exercise to strengthen his arms and legs).
He often gets mistaken for a robot because of his robotic voice (his real voice has been damaged so he has a voice box)
Design notes
The version on the right in the reference takes place after the cyborg one where he gets to grow back his limbs (with the help of Elera, supposedly). Idk I just really like to draw that version of him so it's an option if you want to draw him.
- The position of his head spikes are sort of like a fish (top, back, sides).
- Cyborg Amidias does not have legs or arms, they're all robotic, with armor covering the rest of his body.
- The cyborg's hands are covered by a rubbery material so they're flexible. Same material covers the joints.
- He has more feminine hips and thighs, that means they're bigger. He has no visible pecs.
- Scarring on the non-cyborg one is optional.
- The bag is also optional. He's just used to carrying all sorts of stuff with him.
- The bag and cyborg chest compartment typically contain a water bottle, bandaids, sketchbook, some bandages, snacks, may also contain other things (the whole house is in there, as it is said lol). His chest compartment on the cyborg ver. also contains some tools for minor damages to his robo parts.
Abilities and physical details
- Has some black lung, which is mostly an issue (harder to breathe) when he exercises heavier. Due to this he also dislikes being in polluted air and standing too close to smokers.
- Amidias can make melodies which sound like a piano, a thing his species is able to do. Typically the spikes by his cheeks move when he does that.
- Cyborg limbs are adapted to heavy duty work, so he is strong.
- The cyborg parts are not waterproof, so water can damage his arms or legs.
- Has the ability to breathe underwater due to having two breathing systems in his lung area. Only one at a time can be used.
- Has electricity magic, but cannot use it as a cyborg due to the danger of damaging his robotics.
- High body temperature, body maintains at least around 42 Celsius. Normal is around 50 Celsius, so he can handle higher than that, too. Due to this he tends to eat more to maintain his temperature, especially during winter, but he can also handle hotter weather.
- Susceptible to cold environments and weather due to body temperature requirements.
- Essentially fireproof and non-flammable. His skin needs to get in touch with a rather hot surface in order to start taking damage (melting).
Extra info/lore
Content Warning for some mentions of abuse/punishments
Amidias grew up as an orphan in a crystal underground world called Vakristalis. As a teen he was one of the smarter students in school and would regularly leave the underground to work at a small workshop. The workshop mainly focused on fixing small devices brought to them and a nice old man looked over the shop. Though, one day, as Amidias was heading back to the underground past the forest he was captured by poachers (kristalis' blood crystalizes into magic-conducting crystals as it dries, dead body parts harden into crystal too, so it is valuable). Because he was a rare type (with a transparent waist) his life was spared in exchange for his limbs and freedom. At this point, he was made into a cyborg designed for heavy lifting and mining. At first he was forced to do tasks such as cleaning and carrying things in the poachers' facility to get used to his new body. Of course not without punishment if he tried to run or did something wrong (resulting in turning off the robot parts of his body for a while or removing his voice box). He was allowed to have a sketchbook at some point, where he copied the blueprints of his robot parts to and it helped him cope with things to a degree. Then he was finally sold off to a mining company where he worked in a coal mine. It wasn't that better since there were also punishments for disobeying or doing mistakes, including whipping. Amidias was able to gain the owner's trust by obeying and being a hard worker, so eventually he had more freedom. He made friends with some human miners on the job, along with a middle-aged woman named Laura who was like a mother figure to him and the one who taught him how to cook. However, this mine wasn't the safest, it would occasionally collapse, taking some lives. During one serious collapse the main entrance got blocked off when most people got out, including Laura, leaving Amidias stuck inside for weeks until he was able to get out. When he was out, he finally had full freedom, but by now everyone he had worked with, including friends, was gone and the mine was closed. Now, he lives in a shack by the same mine and works in a small repair shop with his coworker Katrina.
- If Amidias talks about his past, he typically lies and sugar coats it. He does not want to worry other people with such things. (ex. saying that he's a cyborg because of a mine accident or because he was born without limbs. That he got the job because he wanted to).
- Besides using his sketchbook to note down stuff and draw, he also uses it for venting (most likely writes that from the end of the sketchbook, with it upside down so it's not mixed up with other things).
- He owns an amethyst rock called Valerina. It's basically an emotional support rock. He sometimes talks to her, although rarely. As a bonus he may talk to some other inanimate objects too. Note: Valerina cannot talk, she's just a rock.
- Does not believe he can get a partner in his current cyborg state.
- Fears of losing people if he gets too close to them. He still craves interaction though, so he tries keeping interactions/friendships shallow (and sometimes fails).
- Will protect kids from strangers and is very likely to put orphans or lost kids under his wing.
