24 || WRITER'S PLAYLIST

Decided to try out making a playlist code of my own! Of course, who hasn't thought out the reasons why you included such and such songs to your character playlists?? Each song has a dropdown feature where you can put stories/reasons/literally just infodump about songs!!

The dropdown music annotations is actually inspired by ChiiAka's Duotune playlist tab, so go check out that cool code too!

THEME-FRIENDLY

TERMS;

  • Don't remove my credit please!
  • Feel free to modify/frankenstein as much as you want! As long as you credit all the coders properly!
  • Don't redistribute my codes please!
  • It's not required, but I'd appreciate if you leave a comment on THIS thread and/or add the code to your faves if you're gonna use! I'd love to see your profiles!

" Yeah, yeah, it's because my last name's an old music player, haha, very funny. "

THEIA WALKMAN .

"Glaciers melting in the dead of night
And the superstars sucked into the super massive"

Starting us off with Theia's theme! Just really liked the space themed-metaphors, and the intense feel of it really encapsulates Theia's general energy. Yeah I barely paid attention to the lyrics, but in the end they really fit her current situation too kinda?? She COULD be the powerful supermassive black hole, but she's not the one with malicious intentions...mostly. Also I had no idea this was in the Twilight soundtrack are you fucking kidding me

02. IMITATION OF THE SKY

Bryan Scary & The Shredding Tears

"Downwards you go, when you follow the rainbow"

This song.....aside for being an absolute banger the story it tells is very close to Theia's backstory. If you're gonna give me an Icarus-esque situation in song form I'll just tell you "omg theia-core" and then rotate it in my mind. I have a specific order for these songs except for this one I guess. I think this would be her secondary theme, really big on the powerful rock energy AND the story it carries. Anyways listen to Bryan Scary or else.

03. I'M SO SORRY

Imagine Dragons

"I get mine and make no excuses, waste of precious breath"

Gotta be real with ya chief. I just put this one here solely for the vibes. This is a song I heard when I was much younger and it always stuck with me, though I never really read into the lyrics like until I made this layout for fun. Ok. I think it fits her IF she's directing the lyrics to Deja Vu, who she thinks is the one who needs to say sorry. There's a part where it becomes 1st person. The TITLE is in 1st person. It happens. It's ... thematic. I think

"It just reminds you of where you were
The first time it made you cry, the first time you felt alive"

Inxplicably, Theia's character is very much linked to music. For lore reasons. You can say she's the good song that never dies, the one that wants to persist in one's memories, like she's saying she'll always find her way back to them again. On the other hand, there's a lot of songs that never died for her. She wanted them to, but it doesn't seem like they're going away soon.

"-and a winner anyway, 'cause I never wanted to participate in this game"

Ok whatever obligatory will wood cameo this song kind of describes what Theia really wanted. She wanted to have a relatively normal life, and she never asked to be part of this crazy time travelling adventure, even if it meant she'll be able to find Deja Vu again. She's gone through so much and she just wants a breather. I think the actual theme of the song also applies to her too, considering her bodily mutations and her PTSD, she's accepted these traits as herself, her new normal--will someone else be able to love her normally?

Romance isn't her main objective within the story proper but it sure snuck up to her. Like me while I was first writing this story.

06. THE EDGE

Panicland

"And now we're in the middle of the rage and glory! Asking where the hell it all went wrong, yeah"

There's a particular order I arrange songs to. It (mostly) follows the flow of the story as it's told, and not the actual timeline of events. If I did the latter one, the second half of this playlist should've actually been the first half, though I think the first half is mostly about describing Theia as a character rather than what happens--but you get the idea. This song REALLY paints the picture of the tragedy that changed Theia's life forever, I really love the energy of this and the lyrics are pretty accurate to what happened on an emotional standpoint. There's a lot I can say about this song but it's pretty straightforward already so

07. S.O.S.

The Young Professionals (ABBA Cover)

"You made me feel alive but something died I fear
I really tried to make it out, I wish I understood"

HAD to include an ABBA song. Of course this one's all about trying to ask for help. A bit tragic when I say it like that, but both the original song and this cover convey different feelings. I think leaning into the rock vibes is closer to Theia than the original, which is fantastic but it doesn't have that PUNCH. Anyways she's trying to ask for help AND she's missing her past life before shit hit the fan is all I'm saying!

08. TIME MACHINE DEMO 3

Miracle Musical

"Look, oh look at what you've done to me"

This song is arguably the most important song for Theia, and the start of LOATM as a whole. Maybe? I think I listened to the mashup of the final version and this demo and that one inspired me. EITHER WAY, listening to this while I figure out how Theia's gonna fit in after I got her was a very Lightbulb moment. This demo to me sounds like someone who was left behind and stranded in the space time continuum rather than being the time travelling one, like the first (and featured) lyric she's kind of blaming someone for what happened. It's a lot more solemn which I think reflects her state of mind. This and Stranded Lullaby make for a very good backstory for Theia. And so LOATM as it is was born.

Fun fact! Originally the trio all had a version of this song as their theme song at first. Deja's was the final (obvi) and Oliz's was Demo 2 (mostly just to match with the other 2, it has their vibes but the lyric connection is up for debate). The reason why I changed them is. Idk spotify didnt have the two demos

09. STRANDED LULLABY

Miracle Musical

"I'd like to know why you are all alone while I'm lost at sea"

A sad one to pair with Time Machine Demo 3, I like to imagine that yes, she does have very complicated feelings for the whole thing. I don't want to explain this one too much so feel free to read a novel between the lines yeah?

10. STILL FEEL.

half·alive w/ orchestra

"So pick me from the dark and pull me from the grave, 'cause
I still feel alive"

Space-themed metaphors mixed in with themes of rising and persisting through metaphorical death? A very fitting theme for Theia coming back and SEEKING REVENGE. Mostly the feeling alive thing. It feels very triumphant, like she's determined to stand back up after falling down so, so hard. Sure she's technically one of the main antagonists, but I love her and I GET to support her ok. Also I've imagined an AMV with this song. I picked the orchestral version because of the bigger impact of the added orchestra, it feels a lot more powerful. Like Theia herself!
