Andromeda was built for war.
That's probably a pretty obvious thing to say about a warforged, but in their case, it's worth saying. When their creators discovered they were sentient, they were given the option to walk away— but how do you walk away from your purpose when it's all you know?
They were the second of three warforged prototypes built by their country. The first, Perseus, was originally designated "Hero", and was built as a bulky melee combat model. The third, Enif, was originally designated "Pegasus" and was infused with divine magic at her creation, built to function as a field medic. Andromeda themselves were originally designated "Princess", and they were built to spy, and to assassinate.

Andromeda never quite understood Valentine, but that never really mattered─they were head over heels for him for half the last year of their life, and his near death in their final battle certainly played no small part in their choice to sacrifice themselves to save the party. A choice between them and him would always land on him without contest, and they only hoped he'd manage to take care of himself in their stead.
Although there were plenty of choices Tamir made Andromeda disagreed with, they grew very fond of her, and trusted her to have their back to the end... even if they didn't quite trust her in delicate social situations.
There's no one Andromeda trusted quite like Alli... or dreaded quite like her. The fact that they shared a head for so long means that Alli easily knew them the best, which was both nice (because there was a lot they'd have preferred to avoid talking about) and incredibly annoying (...because there was a lot they'd have preferred to avoid talking about). They loved her like nothing else, regardless, although their drive to protect their closest remaining family did occasionally go a bit far. They may never have made any warforged themselves, but they would have liked to think Alli was legacy enough.
