Riverkit || NPC

Oliver and Mustard - soon to be named Dripdroop and Flatface - joined Ravenclan for the prospect of safety. Flatface was in the early stages of pregnancy, and it was of the utmost importance to her mate that she would survive the kitting. Luckily Flatface would indeed survive labour and give birth to two healthy - if not runtish - kittens. Ashkit and Riverkit were welcomed into the world much to Flatface's joy and Dripdroop's... hesitance. In fact it was his hesitance that defined much of what Riverkit knew and saw, and, much like his sister, Riverkit would internalize that.

Bad genetics were against Riverkit from the start; and as Ravenclan began to suffer through a nasty bout of Greencough. Through Flatface's insitance on showing Dripdroop his children, the ailment passed into Riverkit's underdeveloped immune system - only being recognized days later when the little kit broke out into a fever. By then though it was too late, and Riverkit passed just before he was old enough to register what was happening to him.

When Riverkit woke up he was met with a sense of clarity, quite unlike a kit his age (but then again, he was going to be this age forever.) However even knowing that he had passed, Riverkit had no idea about the implications, and thusly refused to go to starclan. Riverkit wanted to stay down here, with his family - his sister - and the call was made to let Riverkit come to terms with his passing before safely coming up to Starclan. For the next few days Riverkit laid in his nest, unable to understand the tears that were shed. Riverkit was overcome with jealousy as he watched life continue on, upset as to why he couldnt play with the other kits, or nap with his sister in the den.

Witnessing Flatface's departure brought to Riverkit a bitterness that he was unused to - he began to follow his mother out of instinct, but heard Ashkit's whimpers and thought better of it. Riverkit is unsure about it all in the end, all he really knows is Shiverriver. He speaks to her alone, cuddles with her when he gets the chance. When Ashkit was apprenticed to Blazestrike Riverkit followed suit, mirroring her hunting crouches in an effort to forget that he hadnt ever been apprenticed to begin with. When Ashpaw became Shiverriver, Riverkit thought to name himself Rivershiver, but he never did. Again, refusal to move on left Riverkit dormant as a ghost, unable to move on.

Nowadays Riverkit has become ever so bolder, but his predicament remains the same. In death Riverkit watches over Shiverriver mainly - though sometimes he trails after Blazestrike and Dripdroop, longing for the paternal affirmation he was never able to get in life.
