About
A clever, ambitious junior photographer who saw no way out from her stifling family, Hope caught the attention of a talent scouter for a Seer when she tried to run away from home, who informed her that there might be another way. Initially skeptical, Hope was convinced after she coincidentally bumped into a murdered toymaker from her hometown, and two days later she took strychnine and died. Trojan spirited her away from her house to the nearest big city before bidding her farewell, and Hope was free. She forged a new identity and began taking photos, working part-time jobs and unpaid internships for two years before catching the eye of a professional photographer. That was her in; she's been working alongside her ever since, always keeping an eye out for new opportunities and a chance to strike it big.

Flower Power
Hawthorn flowers symbolise hope; simply put, Hope can sense opportunities around her, though not necessarily her own. After being disappointed several times, she's learned to be cautious and read the signs before leaping, but oftentimes she'll leap nonetheless. Combined with her innate instincts, she can accurately sense potential in people she meets, and uses this to her advantage whenever she can.
Asphodels were given to mean "my regrets follow you to the grave", and Hope can see what a person most regrets. The connection is involuntary and reciprocated; upon Hope touching someone, both people involved will feel each others' worst regrets. Her power doesn't work on creatures of the spirit world, such as demons or fae, and it is unknown if her power can work on more than two people at once, as Hope avoids physical contact at all costs.
Eohan While Hope knows he was originally unwillingly partnered with her, she now considers him a trusted coworker and friend. Their skills and personalities complement each other - Eohan is high-minded and short-tempered, while Hope has a killer poker face and will do anything to achieve her personal goals. THEY FIGHT CRIME.
Adelland While Hope doesn't know much about her personally, she's met her a few times in passing - Adelland would offer to tell her fortune, though she'd always turn her down. Now that she knows Adelland is somehow involved with the criminal organisation she and Eohan are trying to take down, she's desperate to find her so she can quiz her about Dexter's machinations.
William Hope didn't think very much of him at first, thinking of him just as one of Adelland's hanger-ons, but gained a deeper respect for him after he bailed her and Eohan out from members of the supernatural underground network. She offered to let him stay with them for a while to help assist them with the investigation, but was disappointed when he turned her down in favor of searching for his brother Juniper.
Trivia
- ● Hope was nicknamed "Hurricane Katrina" by the people she works with (though not to her face) because of the way she tends to steamroll over people and leave only dust in her wake. She's concise and brutally honest with her opinions, especially in private.
- ● "Marden" isn't Hope's real last name. Neither is Katrina, and she doesn't introduce herself with it unless she's in a formal setting.
- ● Hope unconsciously cleans things when she's tired. She does the same thing when drunk (or high on painkillers), much to the amusement of her coworkers.
- ● She has no natural talent for languages, but studies them in her free time because it's helpful for her career. She speaks conversational French and Mandarin.
- ● Hope hides her mismatched eyes out of the irrational fear that someone might contact her parents after seeing them. It started as a habit, but she just never stopped.
