I-0's best friend is, unsurprisingly, a hoverfish! I-0 is the first viscet native-born to the water planet, and considering the strange circumstances under its birth, the organization currently over that specific sector named it I-0, short for "Individual Zero".

I-0 took to the water like a natural (obviously), and it spends the vast majority of its time playing with and making friends with the local wildlife. Pretty much the only thing stopping it from living underwater completely is the fact that it can't breathe it like its many fishy friends. There is a particular hoverfish that I-0 has grown attached too; an unusually small one whose growth was stunted by the Kharaa virus before it was cured. It also has strange markings due to the scars from the sickness that never completely faded away.

Because of its unconventional, scrappy appearance, the hoverfish has been named "Patches" by I-0. They are practically inseparable, with Patches following I-0 everywhere it goes. I-0 has even lovingly recreated its friend as a plush made from the very limited supply of fabrics available to it, which mostly includes scraps of old diving suits and whatever else it could snatch from any higher-ups and officers who could easily replace them.
