While Regan has an outwardly cutesy appearance that adheres to her quirky personality, these are overshadowed by her withdrawal and confusion from the outside world as a result of her traumatic experiences. Having lost her parents and experiencing an overwhelming amount of bullying and harassment, these factors more or less has shaped her cynical, fearful view of the outside world, thus shutting herself inside her home in order to protect herself. This however doesn’t stop her from developing a cheery, mischievous side as an outward defensive mechanism.
She has quite the wild, kooky imagination as well as an odd manner of speaking, using slang words and sometimes even bordering on tactlessness. These traits are also a coping mechanism for her reclusiveness and cynicism, as noted by Baymax. Despite her odd tendencies, Regan is exceptionally gifted, combining her intelligence and wild imagination in her programming and scientific inventions.
As a result of her reclusiveness and the bad experiences from her past, Regan is immature. The girl has quite the short temper, quickly prone to becoming defensive and petty even at the slightest. Her pettiness can even go so far as to quickly acting on vindictive responses which are often disproportionate to what she experiences. These flaws were eroded by her past experiences with bullying and her parents’ death, as she wanted a way to defend herself.
After joining and befriending the Big Hero 6, Regan slowly tries to connect with the outside world again. While still maintaining a grounded and cautious view, she starts to become more hopeful and assured thanks to being surrounded by her friends. More importantly, she develops more grounded reactions, awareness, and a sense of responsibility while still being the quirky, cheery and nerdy girl she’s always been.

Given that he, like her, is an orphaned child prodigy, it was natural that the two of them would connect. Unsurprisingly they did-- but it took quite a while considering their contrasting traits and personalities. Read more about them here.
Though Baymax was a healthcare robot, Regan was still cautious of it, but she found his AI and actions intriguing. As time went on, Regan became very fond of him, touched that a materialistic thing, let alone a robot, showed more humanity and empathy to her than her relatives and peers ever did.
Initially started off on his wrong side due to calling him an "NPC", but after gaining the team's trust ad befriending them did they start getting along due to their shared geek interests and zany-minds. They are often seen discussing about numerous animes, graphic novels and comics, and even brainstorming wacky story ideas.
