traits: Tarzan may come off as dumb upon first meeting him but that's merely because he's never had any interaction with horses before coming to Wild Equines., aside from the few months he lived with his mother. He's very headstrong and stubborn and fearless to the point of it being dangerous. Predators do not scare him no matter how big they are and he's known for attacking without hesitation if a predator or other enemy threatens himself or his family. Family is very important to him despite his being rather unconventional and he would have gone to the ends of the earth to protect him had the humans not destroyed the rainforest he lived in. If there's one thing he does actually fear, it is the humans. He hates them, fears them, and he fears the weird vines (actually rope) that they tried to attack him with to catch him. He misses his home, misses the rainforest, misses his family.

history: He was raised by apes. Gorillas, to be exact, and he also befriended a few chimps. Sounds crazy, doesn't it? Well, here's how it all happened. Tarzan's actual mother, another horse, of course, was brought to the rainforest by humans. She was pregnant at the time, which the humans did not know until her stomach started to swell and, not wanting to look after a foal, they set the mare free and then left the forest, never to return again. Tarzan's mother knew nothing about how to survive but she managed to last long enough to give birth to the colt and then raise him for six months, her body slowly growing weaker and sicker. Perhaps she would have made it, perhaps not, but all hope was lost when a tiger came and attacked. His mother was no match for the beast but she did manage to keep the tiger away long enough for Tarzan to escape. He has only very brief memories of his time with his mother, the memories seemed to have all faded, but he was found by a female gorilla who, curious about the mystery creature, brought him home. Obviously he was very different, and he couldn't climb trees, but he aided the family - his family - as well as he could. They accepted him, mostly, and as he grew older he forgot more and more about other horses since he never saw any other ones. He never learned how to speak but he did begin to understand, in a way, the different noises of the apes and they, in turn, began to understand his nickering. They got along decently enough for five years... before the humans decided to come back.

They brought with them big, loud metal things (machines) that would eat up the trees and made everything smell like... like... he didn't know. He didn't understand. He was afraid but he didn't run, not at first. He did what the rest of his family did. He fought back. But the humans had brought weird "vines" (rope) with them that they threw at Tarzan to try and capture him. They never got close enough, Tarzan moving too swiftly to allow them to harm him, but they did manage to capture members of his family in cages.

But that wasn't all the humans brought with them. They also brought fire. It mostly stayed in a pit in their camp but one night it got out of control and the already destroyed forest slowly went up in flames. Tarzan was horrified. There was screaming from the humans and from the apes he lived with and the one gorilla, the female that had first rescued him, began to shove him, grunting at him, forcing him to move. The horse didn't want to, of course he didn't want to leave the woman that he had come to think of as a mother figure, but she kept pushing and shoving and screeching at him until he had no choice but to run and leave his destroyed home behind.
