Hair: Light pink
Eyes: Yellow
ffiliation: Hoshidan army
Occupation: Spear fighter/Woodworking apprentice
Birthplace: Nohr /Hoshido border town
Family: Mother (deceased), Father (deceased), Grandmother, Grandfather
Looks:
Shiori is a slim, slightly muscular young woman with pale skin, yellow eyes and pink hair she keeps cut to a little shorter than shoulder length, then pulls part of it up into a small bun at the top of her head. On special occasions it’s held in place by a wooden comb her grandfather made for her. She favors clothing in soft or pastel colors.
Personality:
Shiori is a normal a calm, kind, and level-head young woman who prides herself on being reliable, getting things done and being useful to those around her.. Her grandparents have been raising her since lost her parents when she was very young, and she always wanted to find a way to help them out. She’s grew to be fairly good at handling problems, and finding what solutions she could because of this. Some of the other villagers wonder if losing her parents when she was younger made her grow up a little to fast, but they still praised her for her mature, hard-working nature, and for being the most reliable out of all her generation in the village. She took a great deal of pride in this. She also worked hard as an apprentice woodworker so she would help support her grandparents. All this meant she was perhaps a little too prideful, and didn’t really spend much time with the other kids her age in the village. She would also take on more than she could handle alone at times, and not want to ask for help because she thought people would think she was a failure. When she was crushed under her responsibilities or failed to do something, she was very self-critical about it. Bandits are a secret fear of hers so she learned to fight in order to protect her grandparents if any showed up.
Once she joins up with the rest of the arm, her ego takes a blow. Suddenly she was surrounded by other people that are strong, that are reliable, and work hard. She started to question things about herself and her own abilities. Woodworking is one of the few things that really made her feel calm, and during her downtime she could usually be found working on some project or other. Her mother died of an illness so she harbors a deep-seated fear of being sick or having people close to her fall sick. She tends to panic when it happens. She tries hard to hide her fears and insecurities, so that she won’t worry other people.
History:
Shiori’s mother was the daughter of a master woodworker, and her father was a half hoshidan and half nohrian young man who came looking for her Grandfather in order to train with him for a few months. Her parents fell in love, and eventually relocated to a town near the border of the countries in order to raise a family. Shiori was born shortly after that.
When she was seven, they got word that her grandmother was sick. She and her mother hurried over to the small village her grandparents had retired too, in order to help out. While they were away, bandits snuck across the border and attacked their home. Her father was killed during this. Devastated, she and her mother decided to stay with her grandparents. A year and a half after her husband die, Shiori’s mother fell seriously ill. As they cared for her mother, Shiori’s grandfather taught her a few basics, to keep her mind off things. But, despite their best efforts, her mother faded a died a few months after she first fell ill. The villagers sometimes whispered that she had really died of a broken heart.
After her mother was gone, her grandparents took her in and eventually her grandfather started teaching her, saying she would be his last apprentice. Working with wood was comforting for her, so she threw herself into her training so he wouldn’t regret his choice. As they years went by she started to help out of more of the village. Not wanting the people she knew here to suffer her father’s fate, she convinced an old soldier that lived in the village to train her in how to use a spear. Her Grandfather was convinced it wasn’t needed, since bandits never reached this far but she still worked as hard at as she did everything else.
One day she was outside working, when Shiro came through the town looking for a present for his mother. What she was doing caught his eye, and they ended up talking for a while.
A few days later, a group of bandits did actually attack the village. Shiroi tried to help fight them off, but they were almost overwhelmed. Fortunately, Ryoma had been curious about where Shiro had gotten something with a pattern the looked like something he recognized, and had been heading back to the village to see who had created it. They arrived in time to help drive the bandits off.
When that was done, after a long talk with her Grandfather, Shiori decided to join up with the army. After all, unless they ended the war thing would continue to get more dangerous. She felt that she had to do her part to see that things were finished.
Character relationships:
Shiro - Shiro and Shiori are close, and occasionally teased for the similarities in their names. They get along very well, often found in each other’s company when off-duty. Shiro’s exuberant nature and general honest just make Shiori feel like she can relax around him, even when they aren't exactly doing the most relaxing things - like hunting or sparing. He never seems to assume anything of her, and even though he obviously admire her doesn’t expect the impossible from her either. They both do understand the feeling of inadequacy the other has, and do thier best to support each other.
It takes them a while to figure out that they like each other, since they’re rather dense when it comes to romance.

Shiori also gets along very well with Midori, Sophie, Hisame, Kiragi, Kana (both genders) and Shigure. She admires Caeldori, and usually gets along with her, although she sometimes feels overwhelmed by her.
Shiori and Dwyer get along...most of the time. She occasionally gets frustrated over how much time she think he wastes not doing anything, when clearly he could be doing something more constructive.
In Revelations she also develops friendship with Forrest, Siegbert, Ignatius, Ophelia and Soleil.
Has a brief, secret crush on Subaki. . Extra trivia:
-Has nightmares sometimes. They came on more frequently after she left home. Doesn’t like to talk about them.
-Always working on at least some little carving. Gives a lot of them away to her friends.
-Likes floral patterns.
