From Japanese 和希 (Kazuki) with the characters in his first name meaning 'harmony' and 'hope' respectively. The surname 中山 (Nakayama) means something along the lines of 'middle mountain'.

Seems like any other child his age during the day, but turns violent by night. Always trailed by a shadow with glowing eyes.

The surname 'Nakayama' is not his real one, but rather one given to him by the members of the village he lives in. The night before he mysteriously appeared in the middle of the village, villagers said they saw a lone fox wander out from a valley between the mountains. When asked for his name, he only said 'Kazuki'. He is possibly a fox Youkai.
