He was 17 when he was infected with vampirism, and went to Auriels Chantry to be cured. He ended up infecting the arch-curate in turn, and fleeing to Atmora as a stow-away.

While in Atmora, he apprenticed under a priestess of Kyne. Eventually their village died off, leaving him to wander the continent. 

4,000 years later he comes into contact with the College of Winterholds expedition team, who brings him back to Skyrim.

He eventually cures his vampirism, and joins the temple to Kynareth in whiterun.
