Captain Barren Red

Rich and dangerous, people feared the color red for Captain Barren Red alone.

A notorious pirate captain, Captain Barren Red was, at one time, the most feared pirates of the Seven Seas.  He was snobbish and terrifying, bringing upon horrible fates to those who got in his way.  His crew members lived in luxury, and he always showed off his brilliant clothing, all the color red of course.
It didn't sit well with the Captain, however, when a new pirate was taking his spotlight.
Hearing about the rising infamy of the Gravedigger, Captain Barren Red sought out the captain's ship and attacked, sinking it after stealing the Gravedigger's precious bottled note.  The rivalry was sworn between the two captains, and Captain Barren Red made it his mission to make the Gravedigger's life hell.
They met and fought many times after that, but the Gravedigger always seemed to have the upper hand.  She was incredibly strong!  But one fateful night, the Captain brought a secret weapon.  Luring the Gravedigger to the edge of his own boat, he shot her and threw her to the bottom of the ocean.
He had finally won!  He could continue to live out his reputation as the most feared pirate in the world!  His bubble was popped, however, when he was attacked suddenly by the new captain of the Water Coffin, Antonio, and was killed to avenge the Gravedigger.

Captain Barren Red is the definition of a snob.  He uses large words to show off his vocabulary and education, and wears expensive clothes to show off his money.  He uses people for his own gain, and has no problem playing with people's emotions.  He rather have people do his dirty work rather than get involved, but all of those rules are thrown out the window when he faces off against the Gravedigger.
