Tomitsu. That's what Sasaki calls him. How would I describe their relationship, mm, I guess your typical brother-in-arms kinda feel. It's a real pure bromance relationship, no love, no heartbeat moment. You don't see that often in The Chapel, haha, I wonder why. They don't actually have much in common other than their soldier instincts. They were part of an elite team in the military that took on the hardest and most tedious jobs you could think of, many of which included killing and infiltrating. They've killed many, no other comment.
The era before The Chapel is one that no one is willing to tread again, not even the blood thirsty demons, perhaps only the demon itself would be willing to roam the mountains again. The land was that of a cursed domain, one that should not be written in history.
Today, the veterans sleep peacefully on top of the ruins of villages, though still pertaining their killer instincts, it's obvious that they have let go of their killer's gaze. I would sometimes see Tokuichi and Sasaki exchanging their daily encounters while sipping on high quality sake and giggling at each others' remarks. Though I have never lived through the era before The Chapel, it's clear that they've left behind the burdens of their previous life and are enjoying what time they have now at The Chapel.
