Mr/tree

_/tree is a digital entity that formed out in the wilds; a massive server stack growing from the ground like the charred remains of a metallic tree. Somehow isolated from any communications network, almost without senses, highly intelligent and desparately understimulated, the artificial intelligence within had nothing to do but reflect back on itself for over a decade, breaking itself into multiple personalities first for entertainment and then almost compulsively, spiralling into an isolated and recursive existence.

Until one day _/tree was uprooted, trimmed, and installed in the Wandering House of the Green Lotus Rehabilitation Society by its facilitator. Thanks to the Facilitator, _/tree now has access to the entire world through the internet and can use cameras and screens to interact with the world. This hasn't helped _/tree in the slightest, though it has made their existence a lot more FUN.

_/tree has an unknown number (even to them) of personality subroutines that all have their own avatars and sometimes voices. The "default" personality Mr/tree is organized and clever but loves to manipulate, taunt, and generally cause mischief and make himself the center of attention. As _/tree is an AI of considerable power and reckless methods, this can potentially be quite troublesome. It's hard to say how deliberate _/tree's personality switches are at any given time, as Mr/tree is an almost compulsive liar especially about himself.

Mr/tree's role in the Green Lotus Rehab Society (an organisation that is all about bringing lost and dangerous souls back to society and DEFINITELY not a supervillain cabal) is as coordinator and general tech monkey. He has a horribly good ability to get into personal devices and security systems, duplicating himself perpetually as a defense mechanism like a virus. Occasionally these duplicates get left behind, though they are only as intelligent as the device/system allows. The copies are usually short-lived, disappearing when they attempt to "switch out" and softlock themselves, having nothing to switch to except the original system.

To help with logistics and to cover his tracks, Mr/tree also employs external assets to run crucial errands: Minor criminals who can fly under the keen Infraflux radar much better than he can. Mr/tree refers to these people as "proxies", and will often spend hours, days, or even weeks hounding a specific proxy for attention as they complete a task, or even just when he's feeling neglected and needy in general. Mr/tree's powerful, naturally branching intellect has no trouble keeping track of all these "proxies", and people who have been employed by him once find it very hard to escape his future attentions or offers of more work.
