Bismuth

A poet and songwriter (lyricist) from the large coastal city of Rhoman. Works in a local coffee shop to make ends meet.
She seems like a snotty, stuck-up intellectual. Has zero patience for anyone she deems incompetent or idiotic, often ghosting people without remorse. Bismuth's a try-hard who can't accept that she's disabled and pushes herself to try and do everything without help. She'll even take on other people's tasks, just so she doesn't have to worry about them being "done right". She has her whole life structured, and even her back-up plans have back-up plans.
While she acts cerebral, Bismuth is also a very emotional person. She views the world through an artistic lens that adds sadness to rain, or anger to a campfire. She finds it difficult to control her inner mind, often getting lost in thought. Her close friends find it magical how well Bismuth can so thoroughly articulate the complexities of her feelings on the page.
What Bismuth wants most is to be able to relax and be herself without judgement or interruptions. She dreams of (and actively plans on) her writing becoming popular enough that she can move out of the city and live in a remote cottage in the woods.

Personality/Self-Expression:
She speaks in sign language.
Sardonic, edgy, analytical, and a bit stuck-up. Has zero patience for anyone she deems inconsiderate, arrogant, or idiotic-- often ghosting people without remorse. Especially judgemental towards anyone who looks down on others or discriminates against people based on ability (she’s intolerant of intolerance). Gets offended when being offered help, but likes playing support.
However she is also an insightful, philosophical, artistic visionary. Very aware of and against the powers-that-be, which she expresses in her art.
Usually very relaxed/open in her body language, but fidgets with her hands (drumming) and becomes more animated when angry. Comfortable being alone, but does best when on stage or with her close friends.
She is very principled and cares deeply for others, even if she’s a prickly goth bitch on the exterior.
Lore:
She was born mute! Thankfully she has a loving family that has provided for her and made sure that she was never struggling in a society that looked down on her. Her mother is the one who taught her tarot & witchcraft.
Became best friends with Xenon and Boreas in grade school. Got really into alternative/counterculture in middle school. The three of them ended up forming a punk band together that they called ‘Broken Barometer’.
Then tragedy struck. In high school, the group was set to perform on stage in the school’s auditorium-- only for there to be a catastrophic explosion! Boreas survived... but Xenon and Bismuth both died.
For several years, Bismuth persisted as a Voided... an undead facsimile of who she once was. Alienated from society and lost to despair as her living relatives grieved their loss and she could do nothing but watch.
Then, thanks to the heroes completing a quest that ended the dark force infecting the world, all the Voided were magically brought back to life-- including Bismuth!
Now Bismuth is back together with the band! She works a part-time day job as a barista, but spends a majority of her time writing music and performing. She dreams of (and actively plans on) her art becoming popular enough that she can move out of the city and live in a remote cottage in the woods.
