Adhara's half-brother from a previous marriage, they had a close relationship despite their differences. Was the heir to the dukedom of Hesperos before he met his tragic end due to illness. Since his untimely death, the cause of his departure has been called into question, but no solid evidence has been found to suggest foul play.

NPC - Mother Juliette Hesperos

A former lady of House Aquarius, Juliette Hesperos formed a family alliance between the two houses through marriage. Since this union, she has given birth to one child - Adhara. Though not needlessly cruel, she is strict and has high expectations of her daughter.

NPC - Father Atlas Hesperos

Never fully satisfied, Atlas is a hard man to please. As a person who underwent the same harsh training that is typical of heirs of this house, he is a very critical and brusque man. Often compares his daughter to his late son, and laments the loss often and openly.

PC - Object of Affection Canaan

Previously a suitor to her brother, Canaan approached Adhara at her most vulnerable. Offering her kind words and validating her secret passion of painting, he offered Adhara the affection that she had always tried so desperately to gain from her family. Since then, she has held them close and harbored an obsessive affection toward them.

PC - Annoying Acquaintance Septimus

A new arrival to the court, he is a person that is very clearly interested in Adhara for his own benefit. Because she already holds someone in her heart, she is irritated by their advances and insulted by their transparent motivations.

PC - Harboring Suspicions Astrophel Von Noctis

Due to recent scandals, Astrophel, of the house of law and order, Libra, finds the new heir to be suspicious. Adhara understands the suspicion, as most of the court holds a similar opinion of her, but she finds herself righteously indignant as she has no involvement with his death and would rather he had not died at all. (So she would be free to pursue her true interests, as she had intended in the past.)

Born as the second star to the celestial dukedom of Hesperos, Adhara had a childhood that was typical for noble girls her age, going to tea parties and socializing with her peers, while nurturing an honest passion for painting.

Adhara's father remarried her mother after the death of his previous wife, and from that union she had a half-brother, who was many years her senior and the undisputed heir to the family.

Despite the age difference and that they shared only one parent, the two siblings were very close. Because their ages were so different, she did not pose a threat to his inheritance, and they treated one another as family, rather than competition. She was particularly spoiled by him, and often monopolized his free time to play games or read stories together. These days passed in peaceful harmony, and while her elder brother underwent rigorous swordsmanship training and political lessons in preparation to inherit the dukedom, Adhara studied the teachings of a court lady as she prepared herself for her debutante.

Until the day came when her life would change forever.

Adhara's brother would suffer a tragic fate, and, with no other heirs, this responsibility was handed down to Adhara. At this young age, the new heir was thrust into ruthless swordsmanship training, intense political and social course schedules, and advanced territorial management study. Living in the shadow of the brightest star, the second star of Hesperos was endlessly compared to her brother. She would forsake everything she enjoyed in an attempt to live up to the expectations of her family, putting down her paintbrush to take up a sword, throwing away party invitations just to study in the family library. Though, no matter how hard she tried, no matter how much she gave up, the lonesome star would never receive her father's affection.

Not only would she lose her friends and become estranged to her family due to this change, rumors would even spread that her promotion as heir was part of some deliberate conspiracy, and that she had somehow orchestrated the situation. Living in repression, the young woman would reject femininity in all its forms, retreating from others and their rumors, folding further into herself. Soon, a new desire would blossom...

At this time, Adhara would grow an interest in a certain noble. Eventually, this intrigue would blossom into something that was not quite love. Her obsession would grow to unhealthy levels as she picked up her paintbrush once more in secret...

The perfect heir hides a truth that even the wisest in the court couldn't fathom.

• Still paints in secret, wishing she could return to the days of her childhood, dressing in gowns and chatting comfortably with friends.
  
  
• Is obsessive over her object of affection, enough to abandon reason and logic in an attempt to have them for herself. Has a room filled with hand-made paintings of them, and a collection of items they have discarded, such as handkerchiefs and the like.

• The heir’s mother is involved with her maiden House; Aquarius, and plans to use Adhara as a figurehead to assume control over House Leo, settling the dispute over which of the two would reign as the ruling house. Without Adhara’s knowledge, her mother (Juliette) arranged for the assassination of her half-brother (Sirius) so that she would inherit the title in his place.

• Owns two hunting dogs, one white and one black. Scent & Sight hounds.

• Her family heirloom (magic item) is a sword passed down from generation to generation within the Hesperos family. It is a symbol of their station and a widely recognized icon to the duchy. It's referred to as Canis Major, the fang of a thousand hounds. (sword of wounding, 5e)

• As part of a ceremony, the inheritor of each generation is cut by Canis Major, the magical wound on their face scarring over as a symbol of their acknowledgement as the rightful owner of the blade and as the successor to the dukedom (the reason for its namesake, the fang of a thousand hounds). Personally, Adhara is torn whether to love or hate the wicked scar on her nose. As a successor, there is no greater honor — but as a noble lady, no greater shame.
