Ult. Salesperson/Ult. Despair/Ult. Sacrifice | Protagonist
One of the students of class 100 that attends Neo Hopes Peak Academy, Etsu attends as a student with the title of Ultimate Salesperson. With the ability to sell anything to anyone at "incredible prices", a lot of students turn to her when they need supplies for projects and weaponry. Due to her ability to get her hands on such dangerous products, she's been labeled as a troublemaker and often gets in trouble with her teacher.
She's often talking with her long time friend, Kumi, whenever she's not selling or studying. Etsu is easy to anger whenever nobody pays attention to Kumi and is always being labeled as "the weirdo who talks to herself".
As the Neo Killing School Life begins, Etsu finds herself trying to solve the murders despite her constant complaining on staying out of it. With the help of Kumi, they always seem to be right on the nose, despite everything stacked against them. Though, as the trials continue on, Etsu finds herself slipping further into despair.
As the final trial is about to begin, Kumi reveals herself to be the ghost of Junko Enoshima, as it's true that only Etsu had the power to see her. Etsu had inherited her father's "Eyes of Despair", allowing her to see Junko's ghost all this time, Junko making her think that she was just a girl who nobody paid attention to. Etsu is then pushed over the edge into becoming Ultimate Despair.
As the final trial continues into the final minutes, Etsu is able to break free of Junko's influence and declares war onto all of Despair. She makes the decision to end it all with her father's revolver, taking Junko down with her in a move that brings her from Ultimate Despair to Ultimate Sacrifice. The remaining classmates are then freed from despair. They bring Etsu to the nurses wing, where she remains in a coma from her wound.
She does end up reviving a few years later, but she only whispers to herself and wears a blindfold to keep herself from seeing Junko.
