Hehe haha take a new character I came up with on a whim. No clue why I haven't made a character like this yet?? There's so many traits in their design that I absolutely love. I'm obsessed with witches, I love plants and especially plant growth like this. I love the sort of fashion they wear, I love just,, a lot about them wheeze. As if that's not obvious haha. I'm going to try to use them as a sort of comfort character? I'll see if they click that deeply with me, I think they will because I already really love them. And uh yes, I know their name is Oleander but they have lavender growing from them. I know I could have named them Lavender instead to match the plants. But uh I like the name Oleander so there haha. And technically I was originally thinking of having their plants be oleander, but I figured lavender would work better. Not as uhhh toxic haha.

I'll get their profile coded soon, but for now have some basic details! I'm uhhh struggling to type them right but still haha.

Oleander is a strange case of a person, to say the least. They are very quiet, to the point where many who don't know them well may assume they're completely mute. They only ever talk with those closest to them, at least verbally. In most social situations, they're more likely to stand in the background quietly and observe. They're no stranger to following those closest to them to act as moral support, and there's a good reason for that. They have an oddly scary vibe to them. They come off as a very unapproachable or intimidating person from a distance, and will often unknowingly unnerve people. They very much have a resting bitch face, and many people may assume they're grumpy or upset without asking. With this, alongside their silent nature, they can often come off as being cold and apathetic at first. As such, not many people tend to stick around them for long. However, those who do will find a very different story underneath the intimidating surface.

In truth, Oleander is a total sweetheart who just appears outwardly scary. They are just surprisingly shy and introverted, and take a while to open up. They care a lot about their personal space, and often get awkward with contact from those they don't know well, but also really like affection from those close to them. While they tend to be verbally quiet, they are much more expressive through text, and this is often the gateway into their sweet nature until they feel comfortable speaking. They are a kind, gentle soul, one with patience and understanding to go around. They can be forgiving and sweet in even the worst of times. They are a very good listener and supporter of those around them. They're very much the "therapy friend," and are always there to help out. They try their best to be very perceptive of others' emotions and needs, and do their best to accommodate them. They're cuddly and highly affectionate, and are always down to give those close to them a snuggle if they want. They are also wicked smart in the strangest ways. They have large attention to detail, and have a very creative and imaginative mind. They look at the world from a very dreamy, artistic perspective, one they quite enjoy sharing about to anyone willing to listen. They really like learning new things, and get quick obsessions with their interests. They would blab to you about a game or something they got into for hours on end if they liked it. When they feel like talking, they can ramble for a very long time. They sort of swing on a pendulum between feeling very sociable and talkative and wanting to just be silent and not perceived, in a sense. While it can be hard to track at first, working with them will yield amazing results. They are incredibly unique in a plethora of ways, after all. No one can truly say they have any other friends quite like them.

However, Oleander is not without their vulnerabilities as well. As much as they reach out to help others, they themself are INCREDIBLY emotional. They struggle with anxiety and depression, as well as past trauma. These issues affect them deeply, and said effects can be easily seen. They're an incredibly sensitive person, for starters. They're typically able to understand intent with those closest to them, like they won't get upset over joking teasing and will often embrace it. However, words can still mean a lot to them. They cry very easily over the smallest issues, and especially struggle around yelling, or typically upset tones in general. They do their best to work through this in the moment, but it's easier said than done. Especially considering their tendency to overthink even the tiniest of details. They're able to blow things up to panic-inducing proportions quite easily and quite involuntarily. They are often indecisive and quite a pushover as well. They get choice anxiety very easily, and have a sort of subconscious worry that their choices will be perceived poorly and they'll be yelled at or generally make others upset. Thus, they are no stranger to sort of letting others make choices for them. It's common to hear "I don't know," "maybe," or "I'm okay with whatever" from them, alongside similar phrases. Unfortunately people tend to take advantage of this fact, something that deeply upsets them. However, they are too patient for their own good with others in order to avoid conflict, and often just try to grin and bear it through said treatment. Try this with those they care for though, and they won't be quite as nice. They care deeply for those around them, and are too selfless for their own good. They take on way too much for others, to the point of acting the part of a martyr in a way. They'd rather suffer if it means those they care for can be happy. They often worry about burdening others with their issues as well, alongside simply having discomfort and anxiety around opening up. Thus, they often repress what they go through, often to their own detriment. They try to hide just how emotional and sensitive they can be, only really letting it out in private unless they REALLY trust those they're around. However, even with these vulnerabilities, they are much stronger than they give themself credit for. They are like nature. They've taken many hits in life, but like the plants growing from their body, they come back and keep living. They have plenty of good in them, it's just a matter of being able to embrace it.

And now for trivia ooo

  • They're actually surprisingly short, only about 5'3" or so. However, they have a tendency to wear very tall platforms, and thus end up standing at anywhere from 5'8" to even 6'0" in their tallest platforms. Their balance is, naturally, immaculate.
  • They have a pear-shaped figure, very thick hips and thighs, and their chest is very small if not entirely flat.
  • They struggle badly with dermatillomania. They are no stranger to having wounds that'll last for weeks or months at a time simply due to how often they pick at them. They do their best to cover over their wounds with bandaids, but they only do so good for so long. Often after a while plants will grow from their wounds to cover them over, almost like scar tissue.
  • Unsurprisingly, they absolutely ADORE plants, fungi, and nature in general. They're especially fond of hardy plants, and like to raise those types themself. They especially love raising succulents, cacti, herbs, and other hardy plants.
  • They LOVE soft blankets and plushies. They collect both, and always snuggle with at least three plushies at night. They have the rest of their plushies that they aren't snuggling with up on display on shelves.
  • They are a huge fan of scented things, especially candles and soaps/lotions. Due to the lavender growing from them they always smell strongly of lavender, so they often have to choose scents that compliment that if they use any. However, they also just love collecting nice scented candles to display.
  • Their favorite flavor, funny enough, is also lavender. They love lavender in literally anything and everything. Especially lavender lattes and London Fogs with extra lavender added make their heart soar. They're able to make these at home quite easily due to the abundance of plants growing from them. When they pluck the flowers, they grow back almost instantaneously, thus giving them an infinite supply of fresh lavender to make things with.
  • Their second favorite flavor is lemon of course, and this pairs swimmingly with every lavender thing they like.
  • As much as they adore coffee, they're much more prone to drinking tea. Especially tea lattes they like a lot. This is because they are typically less caffeinated, which is good for them. They have the bad habit of downing coffee in minutes, which leaves them very jittery and jumpy. Comes from their dad's side of the family, they figure.
  • They absolutely LOVE corvids, especially crows and ravens. They often find themself being followed around by such birds, something that they're endlessly happy about.
  • They are very interested in rocks, fossils, and crystals! They especially like unique crystals and gems, but honestly hand them any cool rock and they'll analyze it for hours. They have a collection of such things on display.
  • They're also a huge fan of taxidermy. Specifically taxidermied bones and things like pinned insects they love. They like to collect these things and keep them on display as well. They collect a lot, to say the least.
  • They are a witch! They relate most strongly to the idea of being a green witch, though they do sometimes take on some eclectic traits as well. However, working with nature and plants especially in their magick is their particular specialty. They offer their services as their main source of income, somewhat acting like an apothecary.
  • As expected from their creative nature, they are quite into art and writing! They often do both, and have plenty of stories and ideas they're working with.
  • They have a widely varied taste in music. However, they tend to find themself liking more genre-bending artists out there. If they were real, they'd be fond of the likes of Will Wood, Jhariah, Mother Mother, and Jazz Emu. They often use music to help cope with emotions they're feeling.
  • More later! I'm just a bit tired of typing right now haha.
