Esk are ghostly nature spirits. They are the result of transformations bestowed upon people or animals who are lost, hopeless, or suffering. They live between worlds — able to take both physical or non-physical form to appear solid or as an apparition at will. Like ghosts they haunt the location where they lost their past life; their soul merges with the environment and they become a manifestation of the natural features of that location. Once transformed some esk take on a role as guardian of their new home, others become spiteful spirits or tormentors. Esk gain power from their experiences and can use this power to alter their form, increase their abilities, or create new esk.

Ava's sterling, meaning perfectionistic and pure. She demands a high quality of work and holds herself and holds others to the same, near impossible standards. She's rather skittish when her past is broached as a subject. Because her sterling nature is a front. She feels guilt. Deep-seated guild and wants to be sure what happened to her team will never happen again.
 
Alva was once a Norwegian lundehound. As the pack leader of a sled dog team, she was responsible for them and their owner's lives. Aevre found and transformed her when the pack got snowed in. Lost without them she's thrown herself into the duties assigned to her now.
