The book beside him can be his plausible pet for Ovenbreak, but as a Kingdom oc, it's an enchanted book that he uses to seal archive crystals inside. He has the entirety of the Grand Library inside, and so much more. 

He is a defense type cookie, and a summoner at that. The archive crystals in his book can be used to summon holographic shields to protect the party, which will partially absorb any enemy attacks. If they absorb a special attack, the archive crystals will throw it right back at the enemy team, albeit in a less powerful form. It takes precise timing to work with Sour Cream.
