A man who seems to be cursed with an abundance of bad luck. Kai has always given himself the job of making the world a safer place by putting himself in the center of danger. He buries himself in work, taking up missions and jobs from both the higher ups, Naoya Zenin, as well as working on his own secret agenda. Rarely ever at home, he spends his time keeping busy and occassionally offering a hand to substitue at the college to train the next generation of sorcerers.

Personality
Kai is a very cold and reserved man. He can be perceived as aloof and uninterested in a lot of people and things, not giving attention to those he is around or even those he has saved. He gets his job done quickly and almost refuses to look back. But beneath this layer of his, he is known to be very caring and empathetic, using his own body to protect others and putting himself in harm's way to ensure those he protects makes it out alive.
He is known to have very little patience and gets irritated quickly should someone get in his way; because of this, he will go out of his way to work independently. Though he uses that excuse to be able to work alone, it is thought that the real reason he chooses to go solo is to make sure no one dies while protecting or fighting alongside him.
Kai doesn’t usually do much on his off days, rather, he spends his time drawing or making more seals/scrolls for upcoming missions, locking himself away from the world and spending time to himself. Those closest to him, such as Satoru Gojo or Yuna Kagami, know that Kai struggles with himself and can often be found in a depressive slump due to his past and his insecurities. They do their best to always be there for him and make sure he takes care of himself.
Story
Kai has lived a very unlucky life. When he was born he released an extreme amount of cursed energy, killing both his mother and a nurse that was unfortunate to be in the room. He was raised by his father until he was five years old, when his father took his own life, swearing that his son caused his life to spiral downwards. At that point, his aunt on his father's side paid for a small apartment where he would be raising himself, completely abandoning him after words. If it wasn't for the landlord of the apartment building stepping up and treating him as her own, he would had perished.
His middle school years didn't get any better, him constantly being the center of harrassment by children and adults alike. His eyes especially gained much attention, with people calling him a devil because of their red color. His bad luck only grew worse the older he got, his day to day life becoming unbearable. Curses always seemed to be following him and hurting those around him, always staring at him to see what he would do. It was before he entered junior high that he met a young Sora Kagami that he began to finally live a little bit.
Skills & Abilities
Overall Skill Level: Being one of the few sorcerers with the title of special grade, Kai is considered incredibly strong and can hold his own against multiple grade 1 curses. He is known to use his cursed technique while simultaneously using weapons to protect himself. He can also be noted to have a large amount of cursed energy, summoning multiple shikigami a day, as well as using a domain expansion, something not all sorcerers can use.
Enhanced Strength and Speed: Despite his physique, he can take down and throw enemies and objects twice his size, using brute strength when in a pinch. Kai has also always been quick on his feet, moving faster than what others can handle.
Great Tactical Intelligence: Kai is able to analyze situations presented to him and make calculated decisions in the heat of battle, ensuring victory in any fight.
Weapon Mastery: Despite being a shikigami user, he has trained himself to carry and use weapons to defend himself should the time ever come. He is well adapted to using both at once and is most suited to using swords.
Jujutsu
Curse Technique: Ink Technique (墨術式, Sumi Jutsushiki): Kai has the ability to combine cursed energy with ink to bring his drawings to life. He can also construct ink with pure cursed energy; by using this ink he can create extremely strong shikigami. Kai constructs this ink on his off days since they consume a lot of energy.
Shikigami: Kai has the ability to create shikigami with ink, with his most trusted and stroongest being tattooed on his body.
- Nishiki (錦蛇, Nishikihebi) and Mamushi (錦蛇, Mamushi) are twin serpents located on his right arm. These two are capable of immobilizing and poisoning any unsuspecting curses and sorcerers. They can also change their size.
- Phoenix (不死鳥, Fushichou) is located on his back. This bird is able to burn anything with its fire attacks. It’s also used by Kai to scout any area for information.
- Tatari (祟り, Tatari) is located on his left arm. This jaguar is his most trusted and used shikigam, able to attack by morphing either parts of itself or its entire body, forming into spinning blades, whip-like tendrils, spears and the like. Kai can also ride Tatari to dodge or move quickly. Tatari was Kai’s first shikigami that he acquired when he discovered his technique, and he treats her more like a pet than a tool.
- Kiseki (奇跡, Miracle) is located on his chest, and is a shikigami that not many people knows exists. Once a regular curse he found confined and waiting for its "Master", Kai took the challenge of taming the curse and forcing it to submit to him. The day it did was the day he felt that he gained a very powerful weapon, and fears what kind of person was originally in charge of such a thing.
Curse Tools: Kai carries a pouch that carries three scrolls, one with shikigami, one with curse tools, and one blank should he need to create something on the spot. He also carries a paintbrush along with small capsules of ink, one of them being ink that he constructs.
Domain Expansion:Artistic Melancholy (芸術的な憂鬱 Geijutsu-tekina Yūutsu): Kai’s domain expansion. A space that has canvases floating in it with ink spilling from the inside. These canvases either create drawings to be used or become an endless supply of ink. In this domain, he can create anything his mind can think of, even creating a replica of himself or shikigami. In the air are highly condensed ink crystals that can be used as mini bombs or blinding light. He can control where they move, when they detonate, or how bright they shine. In this space, his imagination is his only limitation.
The Eyes of Yomi (黄泉の目, Yomi no Me): The Eyes of Yomi is an extremely rare ocular jujutsu Kai was born with. It allows the user to see a world that even the most powerful sorcerers cannot see. It also allows the user to see into a curses past or evolution, but because Kai is not its true user, the only way he’s able to use this specific ability is by consuming the curse’s flesh. His eyes hold an immeasurable amount of cursed energy, so much so that Kai thinks his body is dependent on it, and that his own cursed energy has been replaced with it. The eyes are a direct cause of all of Kai’s bad luck, and he hates that he has no choice but to deal with it. He does know one thing for sure, despite the bad luck, they are very useful, and have aided him in all of his endeavors.

- The kanji in his name mean 龍(dragon) 崎(promontory) 絵 (picture)
- Had he not become a sorcerer, he would’ve been a freelance artist.
- Despite being proud of his tattoos and piercings, he’s self conscious of how people view him.
- Tries not to involve himself with others due to his bad luck despite being a lonely person.
- Developed his smoking habit from Shoko in high school.
- Will sometimes offer to substitute at the college when he’s not busy; because of this students began referring to him as Sensei. He’s asks them to stop to no avail.
- His favorite food is onigiri.
- Yuna gives Kai a good luck charm (omamori) at the beginning of every week to counter his extreme bad luck. If there’s ever a time when they wouldn’t be able to see each other for long period of time, she gives him multiple to “last him until next time.” She has begun hand making these charms!
- Kai owns a motorcycle and it is his primary form of transportation. He owns one helmet and doesn’t wear it.
- Kai is unable to cry, and hasn’t since he was in high school. Every time he feels overwhelmed or feels extreme sadness he begins to sweat profusely while going mute, but no matter what, his body refuses to cry. This, more often than not, leads to him having a panic/anxiety attacks. Though, this situation does not happen frequently, as he is someone who is not in touch with his emotions, and is constantly ignoring them and pushing them down.

Gojo Satoru
Significant Other
Gojo originally was only interested in Kai's eyes, but soon it developed into an unrequited crush that would never be reciprocrated until the two met again in their early twenties. Now the two share a bond deeper than any would imagine despite never making it publically known that they're dating. Gojo is Kai's anchor, and is the only one has seen every side of Kai and loves him all the same.
Kagami Yuna
Younger Sister
Although not related by blood, Kai has taken on the role of older brother after her actual brother, Sora, died. She looks up to him and wants nothing more than to show him how much she appreciates all he does for her. Kai has also taken up the role of mentor and sees over her training.
Ieiri Shoko
Close Companion
Ieiri was one of the few senpai Kai found respectable, keeping in touch with her even after graduation. She is someone Kai can always trusts to keep his secrets and overlook his well being when push comes to shove. She looks over him like one would a sibling, and she wishes he would be easier on himself, as she always tells him that his emotions will one day come crashing down on him, and she isn't sure he'll survive that day.
