Skywatcher

Skywatcher was once an incredibly content, vibrant cat who could easily light up a room with their enthusiasm. However, the shock from Pollenhaze’s affair and the disappearance of Cloudprancer has left them reeling. They try to cover it up, to pretend that they’re ok, but deep down they’re bitter and hurt and scared. They’re highly defensive when cats reach out to offer help, and would much rather eat every bug in the territory than open up about their feelings. While they do try to not make a scene about it, Skywatcher isn’t as secretive about their bitterness towards Pollenhaze, Hemlocktail, and Starweaver, and will do everything to avoid being around them. Once again they don’t voice this, but they’ve become an expert at lying and making up excuses to avoid them. In all honesty, Skywatcher hates deceiving everyone like they have, but their former peace has already been shattered, and they can’t bear to have it be destroyed again. They’re a hard worker and are incredibly dedicated to their clan, though recently they have been seen staring off beyond the clan’s borders, another fact that they’ll fervently deny.

In recent moons they’ve been trying to get better. While they still don’t consider Starweaver family, they’re making strides to be supportive of their clanmate, and to at least try and let voi into their life. Their recent friendship with Ivyheart has also added a bit of a curveball, as they try to navigate their feelings and deal with their issues surrounding romance.

Born as the only kit to Cloudprancer and Pollenhaze, Skywatcher’s formative years were pretty great. They were doted on by their parents, and were quick to try and befriend the other kits in the nursery. Any issues that Cloud and Pollen let slip through were completely missed by Sky, as they were in full belief that they had the perfect family.

Apprenticeship came and went, and finally Skywatcher was given their warrior name. That excitement was stolen quite soon after, however, when Pollenhaze’s affair was revealed. The once perfect family Skywatcher thought they’d had was destroyed in a heartbeat, and for days the warrior tried to figure out why they weren’t enough for Pollenhaze. Why did they need another mate? Another kit?

It didn’t help when Cloudprancer was announced to be missing. Skywatcher spent weeks searching for their parents, and when Bloomclan finally forced them to give up, they were disgusted to find Pollenhaze completely unbothered. They know that it’s not Skyweaver’s fault that everything happened, and they feel awful for what happened to them as a kit, but even still Skywatcher can’t stand to be around them or Hemlocktail. They aren’t family, and if they’d ever cared about Skywatcher they would have known to not destroy the family Sky already had.

They have found some recent joy in their former apprentice, Fluttercup. They felt horrible for not knowing about Whisper’s treatment of her, but has made it their top priority to be there for Fluttercup, just as Mustardroot has always been there for them. They’ve also made the first step in reaching out to Starweaver after Pollenhaze dropped Hemlocktail, and while things are still strained…Skywatcher isn’t as reluctant about being around their half sibling. They still have a long ways to go, but all in all they seem much better than they did a few moons ago.
