Chantelle Grey's daughter, Talia - use to be human, but an accident with the city's power reactor fused her and one of the viscet raiders together. Chantelle thinks that her daughter is dead and blames herself because she was the one who set the reactor off in an attempt to wipe out the raiders without knowing that her daughter was helping them. (Vincent, who was sent to stop the raiders, either gets executed or left to die in the desert outside the city.)

Talia now is in the body of another person, but the viscet, Storm, died in the process - it was a pretty intense transition, so the raiders who broke in take her back to Outer Quarter, not knowing that the person they knew was dead and that her mind had been replaced by another. When she gains conciousness again, she's extremely scared and confused, and through a messy, somewhat-coherent series of questions, everyone realizes that this is no longer Storm. Nothing like this has ever happened before, and everyone is both shocked and horrified. The majority of OQ resent humans, so even though she was how the raiders got into the underground tunnels, she is widely shunned and hated by most. The unholy thought of a human taking over a viscet's body is so vile and wrong that next to no one will even look in her direction, nevermind actually approach or talk to her.

Talia is tempted to return the resentment, especially because of how she was treated in return for her help, but seeing the state of everyone who lives in OQ is enough for her to put that aside and try to do what she can to help people. She now realizes just how bad it is and how her mother had been keeping the horrid truth from her, all the while perpetuating the suffering of thousands. Over the next while, Talia starts to have these visceral visions of what she later finds out is future events that have yet to happen. She started sharing these with people, trying to get them to listen, but no one believed her until she correctly predicted the exact time of a weapons shipment to Central. That got everyone's attention very quickly - she takes on the name Delphi in an attempt to separate herself from her roots and to get people to actually trust her. She amasses quite the dedicated following over the next year or so, being OQ's number one resource for potential raid jobs.

At some point, Chantelle catches wind of this "Delphi" and her strange, powerful prophetic visions. She decides to go down and see for herself what's going on because of the amount of upset this has been causing between Quarters; she practically brings a mini army with her and they gun down anyone that gets in their way. When they find Delphi, her closest friends and followers end up dying to protect her, with only her being spared.

Delphi practically is staring down the barrel of a gun when she just breaks down sobbing and tries to go hug her mother, but Chantelle's bodyguards attack Delphi and kick her away. Delphi continues to try and explain, saying that she is Chantelle's daughter - the guards go to hit her again, but Chantelle tells them to stand down and she approaches Delphi, still not believing that it's possible that her daughter somehow survived the explosion. She asks Delphi a question that only Talia would know, and Delphi answers, hoping that her mother would now believe her. Chantelle just sits there in disbelief, and Delphi again reaches out to hug her mother, but when she touches Chantelle, her mother instinctively jerks back, looking completely repulsed. Chantelle tells Delphi that maybe at one point she might have been family, but from the day of the attack, Talia was dead. Chantelle ignores her daughter's pleas and leaves her alone in the street, surrounded by the bodies of her friends.
