Riya is a young half-elf bard who hails from a small town in eastern Esmos. She is a musician who plays the boat lute, and is especially fond of ballads. Inspired by the folklore her grandmother shared with her growing up, she dreams of not just telling the world's greatest story—but writing it from experience too.

people who don't value art, cold weather, bitter foodRiya has a very warm and bright personality despite being somewhat shy. She is friendly towards others and enjoys being in good company. As a kindhearted and empathetic half-elf, she tends to put other's interests above her own and aims for solutions that keep everyone happy. Riya also has a very positive and excitable outlook on life, romanticizing existence almost to a fault. Although naive, she does seem to see the best in plenty of situations.
Riya is also someone very dedicated to her craft, and she might love playing the lute, writing songs, and performance more than life itself.
She affectionately spent most of her childhood with her grandmother whom she referred to as "nanna". Nanna was a well-studied anthropologist who loved to tell little Riya about the various folktales she had come across during her work. Riya's favorite story as a child was about a huntress and forest goddess who had fallen in love. These folktales sparked Riya's interest in musical performance, especially in regards to ballads.
Upon informing her family of her wishes, they were very supportive and did what they could to prepare Riya for her big journey.

- A hearty, spicy tomato and cheese bread soup she created herself
- Riya enjoys spending time at the beach and collects seashells.
- Riya dislikes playing the piano, but only because she is bad at it.
