Profile

Looks like a cinnamon roll but could actually kill you. As a Training Team member, he specializes training in Prudence. Favorite organ in the human body is the kidney; jokes a lot about eating kidney beans for some reason.

Daniel learned how to perform surgery by shadowing and eventually working for another surgeon in the Backstreets. Until one day, when Rats followed his teacher to the office and killed him, with Daniel there to witness it happen. He broke his leg while fleeing, and after clawing his way back to the office, he had to perform surgery on himself to set the bone. Even with local anesthetic, it was an excruciating experience, but the pain subsided after a few days. This led him to ponder the state of those who couldn't afford such treatment nor do it themselves, and how they might suffer as a result of that.

This led him to run a one-man backalley doctor's office that offered free treatment. As a result, he often found himself in debt, so much so that he was unable to pay his taxes twice. Just when he thought he was going to have to charge his patients exorbitant fees for life-saving procedures like other businesses did, Christopher, a pharmacist, asked if he could join his office. Delighted, Daniel agreed.

Now that Christopher was making high quality medication in-house, Daniel was able to keep his business afloat. He decided on the prices for Christopher's drugs, prices that were well below what competitors were selling. When Christopher asked him to raise the prices, citing their dire need for income beyond just being able to pay taxes and run the business, Daniel refused. He was steadfast in his intent on providing medical care for everyone who needed it and wanted anything they sold to remain affordable to all. They worked together for the next year and a half. Daniel never got to now Christopher's past, except that the man was born in K Corp's Nest and wanted to return home. Christopher hated the Backstreets. Daniel knew this, but he never thought much of it until the day he received a notice from Christopher. Having received a job offer from L Corp, he had already left Daniel's office.

It's important to remember that one does not survive the Backstreets by being nice. Despite running a kind business, Daniel had a reputation for being vengeful. He learned how to wield scalpels not just as surgical tools, but as weapons. And like the surgeon he is, his aim was precise. The reason why Christopher left without telling him was because he feared retribution, and Daniel knew that, but by the time he found the note, half a day had already passed. He would never be able to catch up to him in time. Daniel spent the next two days stressing over his taxes. He was relying on the income from Christopher's drugs, and unless he up-charged the procedures beyond what his next few patients could reasonably afford, he wouldn't be able to pay them. And even if he did, he would still have to find new drug providers and rework his prices, and by the time he did, it might be too late for him.

That was when he received his own letter from L Corp. A job offer out of the blue. And he immediately understood why Christopher was able to leave so suddenly. As much as he wanted to continue providing for his patients, his own life came first. It was with a heavy heart he had to close his business and leave for the Nest of L Corp.
