Basil is a delivery driver for a family owned Chinese takeout restaurant.
They're father is overbearing, and wants them to take over the family business, which they have no interest in doing.
Basil has a very grave outlook on life, and attracts a lot of negative emotions, and they attract a lot of spirits because of said negative emotions. (at least, that's what the last psychic told them.)
Most spirits are harmless, and more of an annoyance. They're used to them by now, but that doesn't mean they get any less bothersome.
They don't know the real reason why they can see ghosts or interact with them. It's because they're half dead! (hence their complexion. Their heart has stopped pumping but they're still living... kinda like a zombie? but without the desire to eat brains.) Basil is almost always cold. They have stacks of blankets in their car.
