Backstory: Fjordin was born to a very isolated community that lived deep within the forests of Western Hell. Here, they greatly worshiped the sun god Sol whilst deeply fearing the moon god Luna, to the point where they would always retreat inside the moment the sun began to set in the sky. Fjordin was considered an oddball and a bit of an outcast, with how often he'd ask about their beliefs and why the night was considered so scary. Eventually, the community grew bold and tried a ritual to summon Sol, in order to banish the night once and for all; and while they did manage to summon Sol, the sun god was less than pleased upon learning why they had summoned him. He destroyed their village, with Fjordin being the only survivor as he was the only one who continued to ask questions and wonder about the night. Fjordin ran away, and for the first time, spent a night under the stars; thus sparking his adoration and love of the night sky. 

Trivia

• Though Fjordin technically originates from the Final Fantasy universe, he is intended to be a standalone character with his own lore. 
  • That being said, if this were a portrayal of him in the FFXIV universe, his "canon" classes would be Summoner and Astrologian. His guardian deity is Menphina, keeper of the Twin Moon and the goddess of love.
• Fjordin has depression, and it did cause him to struggle with finding work that didn't actively drain him and make him feel worse. He's much happier with what he's doing right now, and it actually makes him feel good about himself.
• Though he's single in the official portrayal, his main ship is with a Hrothgar named Beronme and a Raen named Kanekazu. It's a pretty sweet and chill relationship, and Fjordin loves the both of them dearly.
• After seeing the night sky for the first time, he asked the next person he saw what the little glowing dots in the sky were called. After learning that they were called "stars", he changed his last name to be Starlight. He adores constellations and often stays up late watching the stars and moon in the sky.
  • He was genuinely upset the first time he saw a cloudy night sky. He got very concerned and worried that the stars and moon wouldn't be coming back - so you can imagine just how relieved he was when they did.
