I'm usually looking for multiple of any one type, so don't worry about doing repeats.
Individual inspirations per category are moreso just prime examples of what I mean, rather than strict guidelines.
Aesthetics Favorites Folder
General desirable elements
- Weirdcore, dreamcore, scenecore, kidcore, nostalgiacore
- Asymmetry
- Piebald/leucistic
- Herbalist/nature/plant themes
- Weird, magical, or impossible physiology (object heads, floating limbs, etc.)
- Scales, fur
- Magic, cursed/haunted
- Tattoos, small areas with relatively intricate designs/patterns
- Reverse countershading (dark underside, as opposed to the usual light underside)
- Markings under/around the eyes
- Favorite colors/palettes:
- Brown. Love all browns and all shades of brown.
- Earthy palettes in general. Literally just google "earthy palette". I love everything that comes up.
- White, beige, or off-white alongside some shade of red
- Blue and yellow
- Earthy colors with gray or brightly colored accents
- Pastels
- Tasteful rainbows
General undesirable elements
Things that I often do not like in designs. Most are easily pardoned as long as I may heavily edit the design.- Strict redesigning rules
- Complicated machinery (simple machines/technology is fine, but something like Edward Elric's automail is about the most complex I'd like.)
- Breasts (female body shapes and lashes are fine, it's mostly just the breats I have no interest in. Overall I prefer androgynous or male characters.)
- Humans (an exception is Pokémon trainers, I am interested in those.)
- Humanlike (tieflings, elves, dwarves, kemonos, etc.)
- Blatantly food-themed (I'm generally not a fan of characters made of food, with food patterns on them, with food on them, or colored to look like food.)
- Closed/limited species that disallow transferring into other species.
- Disliked colors/palettes:
- Monochromatic (designs that are ONLY shades of a single color.. unless that color is brown.)
~2007-2014 flavored scene- or sparkle-creatures, esp. dogs/dragons.
Bright colors, stripes, checkerboards, the whole nine yards.
Birds
All species, feral or anthro.
Fantasy dinosaurs/dinosaur-inspired
Ideally ones vaguely based on iguanodonts, hadrosaurs, pterosaurs, tyrannosaurs, carnosaurs, dromaeosurs, and sauropods.
Insectoid and insect-inspired creatures
Unusual creatures
Alien or unusual creatures not heavily based on any one animal.
Snakes
Normal snakes are fine, anthro snakes are ideal.
Semi-realistic anthro/feral mammals
Anthropomorphic mammalian characters with mostly naturalistic colors.
Species of particular interest are non-pinniped caniforms, bovidae, lemurids, viverrids, squirrels, lagomorphs, and muroids.
Fantasy anthro/feral mammals
Anthropomorphic mammalian characters with mostly unnatural colors.
Species of particular interest are non-pinniped caniforms, bovidae, lemurids, viverrids, squirrels, lagomorphs, and muroids.
Dragons
Scaled, feathered, mammalian, feral, anthro, cute, monstrous, cartoony, realistic, it all works. I love dragons. If fandom-based, Spyro-style characters are of particular interest. I have plenty of Wings of Fire dragons so I may be less interested in those, but you can still give them a try; my favorite tribes are SandWings, HiveWings, and NightWings. I also like SilkWings, RainWings, and hybrids including any aforementioned tribes. I'm not super fond of pure IceWings, SkyWings, or LeafWings.
Sonic mobians
Big fan of the slightly more unusual species, like birds, reptiles, ungulates, big cats, bats, and so forth, but I'm open to consider anything.
