Tora's life growing up was a happy one, her parents were always loving and supporting her throughout her childhood. They realized quite quickly that she was a little socially awkward and didn't like to be in large groups, so they would always give her the option to stay at home if there was a party or family gathering they had to attend.

Being an only child, she found it a little lonely on her own when her parents were busy with work. Thankfully, one day she noticed a little boy around her age playing in the street with a volleyball. She was curious and for the first time ever, she went outside and asked him if she could play with him. That little boy was Nishinoya, who soon became her best friend. 

When Tora reached 8 years old, she developed a love for writing stories. She would spend hours upon hours writing in her little notebooks, creating her own characters and worlds. Sometimes she would even show Nishinoya to see what he thought of them, he quite liked them and even asked if he could read more of her work. Eventually, Tora racked up a few dozen books filled with her stories.

As Tora entered middle school, she began to open up more, but unfortunately not enough to make many friends. Nishinoya was the only real friend she ever had and he always loved hanging out with her. The two of them would spend every break together. Tora would either help Nishinoya practice his volleyball skills, or he would help her with ideas for her stories. Thankfully, the two of them were placed in the same class every year, even in high school.

Tora has slight heterochromia in her left eye, although she uses contact lenses to hide that, as she doesn't want any attention brought to it. She is also ambidextrous which means that she is able to use both hands when it comes to writing, drawing, etc. She much prefers to use her right hand though. 

One of the most noticeable things about Tora, is the fact that she's always dying her hair a different color. Sometimes she simply changes the shade a bit, but other times it's a very drastic change. She's been seen to have purple, black, blue, pink, and red. Her most common color though is a shade that can be referred to as 'rouge'. She really likes the color contrast with the color and her eyes.

Tora also has a large passion for writing, the only person that knows this aside from herself, is Nishinoya. As she tells him everything, and vice versa. The pair have been inseparable ever since they were young, as they lived next door to each other for quite some time. Nishinoya is the more outgoing one while Tora prefers to lay low in the background. She only joins in when absolutely necessary. For years, Nishinoya has tried to persuade Tora into joining him in he volleyball clubs, but she's refused every time. However, even if she isn't a member of the club, she is usually seen at the gym, reading books as she waits for Nishinoya to finish his practice. She also occasionally goes to his matches.

One of Tora's weaknesses, is animals. She's always been afraid of them, each and every one. Even puppies frighten her, which is rather odd to many people. When she's around animals, she tends to hide behind whoever is closest to her, that usually being Nishinoya. Back when they were young Nishinoya would puff out his chest and 'scare' away the animals, always saying that he was going to protect Tora no matter what.
