  •  Name   Ophira Anthor
  •  Age   59
  •  Height   6'5"
  •  Occupation   General, former Royal Guard
  •  Affiliation Montelon Sentinels
  •  Song Up the Wolves

Ophira is one of Orthea's most famous knights, and is seen as a paragon of virtue and duty for the people. Blunt and headstrong, Ophira fights for what she believes in with a zealous passion, damned be those who get in her way.

In her time as an officer in the Orthean Army, Ophira earned a reputation for putting her troops through rigorous training and demanding utmost respect. In return Ophira offers the same, holding herself to a high standard and judges her soldiers on merit rather than birth.

During her time in service to Queen Cecile I, Ophira learned how little many of those in power cared for their people. In her point of view, most royals were more concerned with filling their coffers and throwing extravagant parties than rule. She became unpopular with many in positions of power for her vocal critique of them. She was only kept on the guard by Cecile's request; The two were involved in an affair, kept hidden from the king and the other royalty.

While Ophira uses her fame as a knight to gather support for the army, she doesn't enjoy it. Ophira rejects most praise, passing it on to her soldiers. She famously forbids bards from singing of her exploits in her presence.

  •  Backstory
  • Ophira was born in Montelon, where her family had a small castle overlooking the port city of Estuary Point. A military brat, the Anthors had a long history of service to Orthean royalty. When she was of age, Ophira enrolled in the officer's academy in Astril.

Ophira led a long and distinguished career, ranging from putting down insurrections to fighting pirates attacking trade vessels. Eventually, Ophira became a general, and eventually a member of the royal guard when she caught the queen's eye.

  • When a fellow guardsman assassinated Queen Cecile I, Ophira was stripped of her military rank and titles. Disgraced by the royal family she had once sworn her life to protect, the once-proud knight returned home, unsure of how to continue with her life. For years after her departure, Ophira rarely entered the public eye.
She languished in retirement for several years, until she was approached by a masked man. He blackmailed her by threatening to reveal a secret of the Anthor family to the rest of Orthea that could destroy her house. His request was simple: start a war with Orthea.

  • While Ophira had been long-convinced the duchy system was corrupt and could no longer effectively govern, she was hesitant to start a full-on rebellion. The people of Montelon had a long history of being crushed.

  • Ophira helped found the Montelon Sentinels, a rebel group set on ending duchy rule in Montelon and establishing a democratic nation. Operating out of the ruins of Carthens and Wythers' castle, the group began a series of insurrections across the province.

  • Soon, with ranks swelling, the Sentinels marched across Montelon as a proper army. Ophira's knowledge of Orthean military tactics gave the rebellion an advantage, and soon the Orthean knights were relinquishing control of the province. As the war dragged on, the two armies became entrenched and have essentially reached a stalemate, with Montelon divided.
