Profile

mirosław mazurkiewicz. born 1949

fire magnolia's beloved saxophonist and flautist. polish immigrant, moved to england when he was around 17 with his family, but quickly had to find a job as a session musician. one of his early jobs was for fire magnolia when he was around 19. nobody really knew how he got the job, or how he just stayed in the band for so long. it's a running gag with the band to give varying whimsical and fantastical interpretations of how he joined the band and where he came from- everyone has a different story. during the 60s he's extremely shy, nervous and withdrawn, scared to mess up his chance with fire magnolia- but quickly learns its hard to go wrong with that bunch of people. he grows out of his shell in the early 70s and is known for his charismatic stage and offstage presence as well as his elaborately decorated capes and instruments. towards the mid 70s, though, he leaves fire magnolia to join former roadie mouse spaulding during his career as a glam rock musician. part of his backing band, the house cats. he eventually gets tired of that too and moves onto doing more session work, building an extensive repertoire of famous musicians he's worked with.

very neutral man, but he's quick to act on many things. quick to anger and quick to get over any grudges he's had. never truly hates anyone

actually loves jazz, most of his saxophone and flute playing is heavily inspired by jazz musicians although he adapts to fit whatever genre he's asked to play in

his alto saxophone is engraved with a floral design and has rainbow moonstone laid in the keys :3 his soprano saxophone is engraved similarly. he rarely plays tenor saxophone so its not anything fancy. he doesn't play sopranino or anything else

he can play several different kinds of flute, and is noted for his unusual usage of flauto d'amore in recordings. all of his flutes are completely white or silver and the lip plate on his flauto d'amore is engraved with a similar design as his alto saxophone. the crown also has a tiger's eye gemstone on it. all other flutes are normal
