Name Valentine Jacred Nicknames Val, Mr. Jacred

"Fuck Arceus. Join my Rob Zombie cover band."

The premier selfish, sore-loser loner straight from Driftveil City,
Val makes himself looks as scary as he can, and loves gross out horror flicks and loud, abrasive music. He essentially lives his aesthetics.
Val has traveled the Unova region up and down trying to find something, Any kind of purpose for himself. He pushes away most of the people that try to help him
and then wonders why he doesn’t have any friends.
But under all that rough and tough attitude is a guy that does genuinely care about his loved ones, at least a little.

At one point in time, Val encountered ██████████, a force on the same level as even Arceus, everywhere all at once, having been here since the beginning. ██████████ manipulated Val, planned to use him for its own gain, promised him he would be more powerful than any trainer he’d ever met. Promised him a purpose in life.

And then Arecus threw Val back in time, erased his memories of the encounter, to save the world from himself.
And unbeknownst to Arceus, ██████████ followed.

--

In Hisui, Val takes up the role of the wandering vagabond, left to (mostly) fend for himself.
He's mellowed out quite a bit, given a lot of time to reflect. Maybe even feels a bit guilty over how he’s treated people in the past.
He’s made shaky friendships with certain members of the Pearl Clan and especially with a particularly chatty member of the Ginkgo Guild.

Admittedly, he’s happy here with his small team.
And the way his songs and stories enrapture some warms his heart a touch
(just sloppy retellings of internet urban legends and horror movies he’s seen. but he knows how to make them entertaining).

But some nights he still wakes up in a sweat, longing for his old bed and creature comforts.

He’s opened up to the merchant more than he normally would care to. They’ve gotten particularly close over the months.
Camp together and explore the vast region together.
Maybe together they can figure out why Arceus sent Val back here in the first place too.

Unova

Vim the Hypno

Level 46. Quiet nature. Ability: Inner Focus
Val’s ace, dearest pal, and specialist little girl!!! Despite preconceived notions about her breed, Vim is a thoughtful little thing. She’s patient and quiet and careful, albeit maybe a touch pushy and irritable if not listened to, but everything she does is out of care for her loved ones.

She’s a bit wary of strangers, but she’s always willing to offer her aid to those her partner puts his trust in.

Moveset: Hypnosis, Psycho Cut, Ice Punch, Disable

Valor the Excadrill

Level 42. Adamant nature. Ability: Sand Rush
Self-Proclaimed ‘leader’, Valor NEEDS to position himself as chief representative of the rest of the team whenever meeting a new person. Really though, he just likes to hear himself talk. He’s loud, cocky, rough and tough, but he likes to have a good time and a good brawl. He’s quick to anger though and very Very frequently butts heads with Virgil.

Moveset: Sandstorm, Drill Run, Iron Head, Hone Claws

Virgil the Heatmor

Level 43. Mild nature. Ability: White Smoke
Not necessarily vain, but obsessed with image and making a good first impression. Virgil is polite, upstanding, and eager to please. He loves trying to offer his guidance and battle critiques to the rest of the team, whether they want it or not. Some think he’s annoying, some think he’s endearing in a dweeby way. He’s basically Berdly if he were a pokemon, is what I’m saying.

Though not as competitive as his teammates, Virgil still finds himself taking loses very personally, even when not at fault. He has a tendency to get a little mopey and blame himself entirely for lost battles.

Moveset: Heat Wave, Giga Drain, Odor Sleuth, Hidden Power (water)

Vip'ra the Eelektross

Level 40. Sassy nature. Ability: Levitate
The cheeky ‘mean girl’ of the team. She’s cheery and energetic, but a bully on the battlefield. She mocks and laughs at misses and failed attacks and underleveled opponents. And she likes to tease and prod and mess with the rest of her team just a hair. But she is innately curious and will snatch things out of Val’s hands just to get a good look at them herself.

Moveset: Thunderbolt, Aqua Tail, Gastro Acid, Dragon Claw

Vanguard the Scolipede

Level 52. Hardy nature. Ability: Poison Point
Vanguard is just kind of distant from the rest of the team. Just kind of there. But that’s not a bad thing. Vanguard is frequently seen as the straight 'mon of the group. The most reliable one, the one to make the tough decisions, give honest opinions, while still making sure no one rips each other’s heads off. He doesn’t really vocalize much unless necessary. But he exudes a quiet confidence and levelheadedness that just makes a lot of other pokemon (and trainers, for that matter) respect him.

Moveset: Megahorn, Poison Jab, Toxic Spikes, Iron Defense

Vivic the Crawdaunt

Level 40. Serious nature. Ability: Shell Armor
The newest member of the team, and the one everyone else is just a bit hesitant around. Vivic does not interact much with her other team members, a lone wolf of sorts. She’s cold, direct, and unforgiving; brutal and unrelenting in even the most casual of battles, something Val and Vim are desperately trying to work out of her.

It’s unknown what she sees in Val to be willing to work with him. But she seems to maintain some kind of respect for her trainer that she does not give to others. She listens to his orders, at the very least, so that’s a start.

Moveset: Crabhammer, Night Slash, Ice Beam, Dig

Hisui

Vim the Hypno

Level 46. Quiet nature. Ability: Inner Focus
Still Val’s very special girl, but now more protective and fussy than ever over him. She doesn’t rest much in Hisui, preferring to keep a close eye on her surroundings for any alpha pokemon or dangerous humans considering her and her trainer a threat. She’s quick to brandish her pendulum at anyone that sneaks up on her and her friends, often needing Val to tell her to back down himself.

Moveset: Hypnosis, Psycho Cut, Ice Punch, Disable

Verity the Typhlosion

Level 45. Mild nature. Ability: Flash Fire
A goofy guy! He evolved from an anxious ball of flame eager to impress Val, to a big loaf that just likes to lounge and joke and eat berries all day. He likes his scritches and doesn't mind his pals using him as a pillow at night and is sometimes a bit of a pest and a funny man, but in a loving way.

That’s not to say he’s totally lost the fighting spirit he had as a cyndaquil, though. The moment his trainer needs help or is in danger, he rushes to his friend’s aid, spitting fire all the way. If you so much as scratch Val, he may, in fact, bite your face off.

Moveset: Infernal Parade, Mystical Fire, Rest, Swift

Viza the Rotom

Level 38. Quirky nature. Ability: Levitate
Hard to say Viza is a part of the ‘team’ as she flits in and out of company. But she’s attached herself to Val nonetheless and when she does decide to hang around, she loves to cause chaos and mess with people for fun. She does genuinely like Val and Co., but she likes being an annoyance just as much. Still, she won’t do anything she knows will put her pals in harm’s way and tries to keep everyone's spirits up when around.

Moveset: Dark Pulse, Thunder Bolt, Thunder Wave, Hex

Relationships

Volo

[ Friends who just invented the QPR ]

Merchant and Client, turned Friends, turned Friends with… ‘Benefits’? The two keep each other company and keep each other safe in the harsh wilds. Both deeply appreciate the companionship even if both struggle for a very long time to admit. The two share myths and folklore over firelight during the night, and try to find their own purposes during the day. But maybe Val is just a bit too trusting of Volo. And maybe Volo feels more safe around Val than he ever should…

Irida

[ Friends ]

Being essentially forced into her role as Clan Leader early, Irida appreciates Val’s outsider perspectives on a lot of things. He doesn’t have the astronomically high expectations of her that the rest of her clan does, and she’s grown to slowly let her defenses down around him. She’s naturally suspicious of Volo, but if Val can trust him, she can only suppose she can try to do the same...

Ingo

[ ...Acquaintances ]

They knew each other once back in Unova, to be sure. Their first meeting in the Battle Subway did not. Go well. Val lost and he did not. Take it well. And now recently meeting again in Hisui has left a bitter taste in Val’s mouth. He regrets ever lashing out at Ingo back then, and now he can’t even apologize because the man doesn’t even remember a thing. All the while, Ingo treats Val as just another civilian to be watched over. Giving Val a level of care he feels Ingo should not be showing him...

██████████

[ It's uh. Yeah, it's uh. ]

It found him in Unova, It will find him again in Hisui. It promises great things for the both of them; a mutually beneficial relationship. It promises power and infamy and a chance to know where he’s going in life. It opes all paths and doors for him. It is bewitching in how It speaks and feels. But he is merely a host for It, and given enough time inside him, Two will become One…

Ethan

[ 'Rival' ]

Childhood friends turned into a one-sided rivalry after Ethan got to be the big damn hero and save Unova from Team Plasma while Val was left in the dust and all washed up. He hasn’t seen Ethan in forever. He’s got all his duties as champion now, after all. Val doubts Ethan even remembers him anymore. Val’s not bitter about it or anything, no.

Lenora

[ Acquaintances ]

Tried to steer Val onto a better path. She always told him he could make a great gym leader with how well he works with his team. She would always tell him he had a lot of potential. He never listened to her, but he wasn’t going to lie. He appreciated the support. He hasn't put up much effort to keep up with her in a while, but they still cross paths from time to time. Lenora always looks so disappointed.
