Caribou

Backstory:

Caribou and her brother went out far away from the camp one morning to explore. There was a caribou carcass by the river, her brother dared her to wear the skull and walk into the forest. As she did so, they found a bear lurking in the trees. It was very hostile and lunged at them. She was nearly killed by the bear but survived by hiding in a strange cave, it had markings on the walls she had never seen before. She didn’t pay much attention to them though, as the bear tried digging her out to kill. Her brother left her during the bear chase and made it back to the pack. After many hours of waiting till all was clear, she shuffled, barely making it back to camp. Her pack saw her as a bad omen, and was shunned from the other wolves. After many years, a strange winter came where bears did not hibernate. Wolves from her pack were being killed, and Caribou was blamed because she had the strongest connection to the bears than any others. Then, the day came. Dozens of bears broke into the wolf camp and massacred every wolf in sight, fire spread at the tops of trees, as disaster was in the air. Caribou was banished from the pack. She never truly did nothing wrong, but everyone’s hatred was enough to convince the Alfa. As the killings went on, caribou escaped, all she knew was that she hid her brother in a tree, her only hope was that he was safe. She travelled many lands, finding strange markings upon walls of caves and stones. Many years passed, caribou still was trying to find the source of the symbols and broken trees. No other animals knew. Caribou searched for years before walking on a frozen lake. She looked up and ahead of her, there was a strange creature, that walked on two legs, draped in animal skins. They both stared at each other in wonder from across that lake. And caribou knew she found the thing she had been looking for all these years. She become the first wolf to discover man.
