Nikolai is the royal advisor to Michael, the King of the Jesters. They take this role very seriously, and is the main reason that things have stayed in check for so long. They're more suited to the role than Michael, and are trying to plan how to overthrow him. They have a feeling Michael has learned of their plans, but for some reason he hasn't done anything to stop them. They're not about to question it, it only makes things easier for them.

Others often cite Nikolai as being strangely intimidating to interact with, which Michael will always dismiss as them just being nervous being so close to royalty, as Nikolai almost never leaves his side. However, Nikolai does give off strange vibes, almost never speaking or blinking. They silently perform their tasks, and stare people in the eyes for much longer than is typically comfortable. They enjoy watching people squirm.
