They/It - The Rift’s Monster - Unlabeled

One of many dangers rumored in a section of ocean simply known as the “Rift”, Lure is only known as a superstitious legend to the many sailors that spread rumors over the mysterious area where boats are simply known to disappear into thin air, crew and passengers alike. Many theorize that the Rift is full of monsters unseen by the rest of Kalon society, or the fact that it might be a portal to another plane entirely, or something far more sinister. Those that live and make it through the rift tell tales of a stranger beneath the waves whose songs compared to the likes of sirens in a haunting and eerie way, driving the crew to madness. Tales of those thrown overboard in a fit of panic, never to resurface or seen again. The rage of an old god, who voice beckons for sacrifices…

In reality, Lure is one of the Rift’s many victims. Formerly a veteran sailor, it was forced to sail into the Rift in search of treasure that would pay off their debt. They would not survive this venture, falling into the icy water by a sea monster and drowning in the open sea, alone. 

However, it woke back up one day. Mutated by the Rift’s magic,
