Maisie

WIP - i'll make it pretty someday

Maisie is a VERY soft-spoken and awkward individual who acts as the medic on the airship Saucy Jocelyn. They are a chronic overthinker who has a terrible time breaking the ice with new people and making friends in general, and has a tendency to come across as very intense and antisocial. They have a near encyclopedic knowledge of the human body as a result of spending almost all of their time at the Archive, consuming textbooks upon textbooks worth of information from the servers, and even doing a small amount of independent research on the side outside of their job as a pharmacist.

They quit their pharmacy job to join the crew of the Saucy Jocelyn after befriending a librarian at the Archive, Jemma [page coming soon], who was helping Scraps build the ship at the time. When the ship was finished, safety inspections passed, and ready to take to the sky, Maisie hesitantly accepted Jemma's invitation to come along for the ship's first outing. They returned to their pharmacy job after the trip, but the Archive didn't feel the same without Jemma, and it had been really nice to see the sky, and the crew didn't seem to mind that they weren't so great at casual conversation. So one trip turned into two, turned into three, until eventually Maisie accepted that it was worth the leap of faith to formally join the crew long-term.

Even when Maisie is around someone they are comfortable with, they never really lose their anxious demeanor or the tension in their posture. However, once Maisie likes and trusts someone enough to stop overthinking, they reveal an incredibly sharp wit and sense of humor, though their jokes do often go over people's heads due to Maisie's straight-faced and deadpan delivery.
