Joana

Backstory

Joana was born into a family riddled with disease. As the eldest of three sisters, she was meant to be the main breadwinner after her fathers
inevitable passing when she was 10.
A rare birth-defect left her with a complete loss of function over her legs. And although she knew how to get around, getting incredibly skilled
with using her crutches for movement, and take care of herself, no one in her hometown was willing to offer her a job. Because of this she had to resolve to
tricking and stealing from people.
One day when she was 14, she managed to steal a precious heirloom from a local boy she used to go to school with.
And although he couldn't chase after her in the moment, he would eventually find her in her hiding spot. To Jo's surprise, she wasn't met
with anger from the boy. He was more concerned about her well-being, since he hadn't seen her in years.

From that day on, the boy, Dawson, made it his mission to make sure she and her sisters were healthy and well-fed. After a few days of arguing,
he even managed to convince Jo to move her and her sisters into his home, where they would be met with open arms by his family and thus starting
an ever-lasting friendship between them.

Alphard

Although Jo had missed the feeling of a loving family, she could not bring herself to fully get comfortable in Dawsons home. She still believed
that it was her sole purpose to provide for her younger sisters, and that getting help from strangers was a sign of her own weakness.
More than once she slipped away to continue her habit of stealing from people. On one such day she ran into a wealthy-looking lady, who took
interest in her because of her unique form of mobility. She introduced herself as Rosaline Walker, a human neurologist and head of an organization
called "Alphard", a team of scientists that were exploring different regions of Oasis.
Rosaline quickly offered Joana a simple job, which they would both benefit from. In exchange for her "unusable" legs, she would get working prosthetics
and a lot of money, while Rosaline could take a closer look at the biology of oasians.
And although hesitant at first, Joana ultimately agreed, on the condition of it not taking longer than a week.

Rosaline kept her word, the complete procedure only took a couple of days. In-between she would visit Jo to get to know her better. She seemed almost
motherly in that time, always making sure that Jo was comfortable.
