About
Manipulative • Unorthodox • Martyr
Pryiskene grew up in a cruel hierarchy with constant rivalry between siblings and immediate family vying for power. Simply to survive, they built an image for themself as ambitionless but helpful, all the while learning to influence others and rack up favors. They built up relationships, information, and trust through trades and reputation. They became someone who saw everything as a commodity, and had a knack for manipulating others into believing they needed specific goods or services that they could provide. They came to the conclusion that absolutely anything could be tradeable and hold value in the right hands, and would use absolutely anything they could to their advantage. It was all to get a leg up using any means possible- and to this day still had nearly everyone around them in their pocket, if not placated by the risk of going against them.
Over time, this led to them being among the strongest of the siblings due to their constant management of staying out of their relatives' attack range. Though Pryiskene worked hard to become untouchable by their ambitious relatives, they didn’t plan to become the leader nor the strongest- their only goal was to be safe and profit. Nor did they feel they were cut out for a leaderly position to begin with. They could manipulate and sell, but they didn’t communicate or relate to anyone else all that much. In fact, they had always been a sort of outcast, not just from their immediate family but also the others around them. Most of this in part due to their egotistical and careful nature, but also because of the unhinged beliefs that they voiced when they were younger.
Douhmel weren’t necessarily loving of everyone within their race, but this one had a warped view that even Douhmel- the ones seen as the ultimate race above all- could be bought and sold as well. That, despite the Douhmel having made the Haeryc for themselves, some Haeryc deserved to be the masters and some Douhmel should be nothing more than servants. It wasn’t for a love of Haeryc, but more a hatred of a few others in his family. Adding to that, their culture already normalized the idea of wiping out other families and taking everything as their own. Well, why not make other Douhmel families, not just the Haeryc, into servants as well? It was a taboo way of thinking, and it meant accepting that their own family should be subject to servitude if they lost against another family. Their progenitors tried to beat the concept out of them when they shared this ideal openly, but it only made them more certain.
They grew up not wanting to serve the people and lead them, but that’s the role they ended up earning when the former sovereign stepped down and they won against their eligible relatives. Thus, they planned to twist all the traditions up in the process. But above all… they wanted to speak their mind, do what they wanted, and not be punished for it. For that reason, they started projecting the image of themself as an outlier who had suffered for not being the same as their immediate family and the last sovereign. They were someone who had visions and goals, and they would do what it took to make change- even if it meant they had to endure great pains. Pains that they would go through in order to improve the lives of everyone else. With their capitalistic nature well-known, they made it seem that when they gave to the family it was sure to mean a loss for the sovereign, but they did it so everyone could gain something from their efforts. And as the member of the ruling branch that was treated as an outlier their whole life, they became a rebellious underdog who sought to change the system from the top and mix up what it meant to have authority. They were the voice of change, of the new, and of an average Douhmel who planned to be in the forefront and bear the tide of tradition to reach their goals and aspirations. Sure- they may not have truly opposed the concept of authority, nor did they seek to destroy the basic system and take power away from those who had it, but they did evoke the image of a normal vampire who genuinely wanted something different for their family and thought it was within everybody’s interest. As far as anyone knew, of course.
