Atlas Latcha

Atlas was born and raised on a plantation near the edge of the kingdom of Fojhi. Isolation from the colonies as well as a lack of social experiences left him with a small sense of self-worth. This also lead to him having trouble identifying the emotions of those around him. 

When Atlas was born, his abnormalities were immediately recognizable. He had black, ink-like markings which was not a normalized occurrence for Fojhi Resra. His father, Hayden, told everyone that he’d gotten into an accident with permanent ink while he was an infant- but he was truly a hybrid. However, even his mother did not know this until eighteen years later. Atlas was in fact, not her child and his father was able to get away with the whole scheme because Edith (mother) experienced pseudocyesis, otherwise known as false pregnancy. Atlas is technically not half Wesk and half Fojhi, and is instead 1/3 Wesk, his biological mother being a hybrid herself.

A few years into his life he experienced his first loss when his younger sister, Colled, who was not even a year old passed away. Due to the high disease and infant mortality rate, his family had been expecting this for a while, however Atlas had not been told about this. He was around the age of five or six when his sister died while he was alone with her. What makes the event so traumatic is that he was stuck there with her, now dead, not knowing what to do for nearly half an hour. Because giving your characters trauma is fun.

After that he got the idea into his head that he was unimportant to society and would inevitably die, and not many Resaa would care. After he was badly injured during his zemre ceremony (A traditional, Fojhi-explicit event in which all the Resra in the nearby colony are officially considered adults by being cut with a knife three times and presenting their blood to those watching. (This practice applies only to men)), Atlas comes across another Resra name Ametrine in the woods. Ametrine helps with his wounds and before sending him off, asks for them to meet up again. Which is where the story starts.
