Background: In late 1970’s, a man named Bill Darringer and a band of fellow Libertarians banded together and built a self-sustaining compound for them to live on in the small town of Alberton, Montana, complete with their own water system and power provided by solar panels, it was completely unreliant on the government and functional in just about every way, save for a limited technology allowance implemented due to the area. Not long after Darringer’s suspicious death in the early 80’s did his second in command take the ranch into his hands. John Eden turned the group of mostly non religious Libertarians unto the word of God, and thus built himself a cult from the ground up by showing them his divine power as a fallen angel, claiming himself to be a prophet of the Lord come down to save a handful of devout followers from the coming Armageddon. In reality, he’s nothing more than a fallen angel from Overworld cast out for his greed, preying on ignorant mortals to give himself the power he so desperately desires. At his disposal, he has a plethora of weapons, a strict moral “code” that his followers employ, and a fortune from engaging in underground criminal activity within several different, hard to trace markets.

In the same year that Bill turned the cult over to his devices, a very beautiful 17 year old Daniella Lopez came to the ranch on the assumption that Darringer was still alive and could take care of her after her father, a long-time friend of the compound, passed away. Instead, the young woman found John Eden and his smooth persona. Quickly, she fell in love, and fell pregnant with John Eden’s child at 18 years of age. John Eden filled her head with stories of giving birth to the next messiah, and when Daniella had her son in May of 1986, Eden declared that his son was the next coming of the Lord to the ranch, and that he would be the one to save them all when John Eden himself would die. The boy would be given the name Alexander Gabriel Eden by his father, and he and those on the compound raised him when his mother would die during childbirth. This of course, was expected by Daniella and everyone in the compound, but she was happy to die for the next iteration of the Lord. What an honor.

Growing up, Alexander  was revered by the entire ranch as the son of God himself and thus grew up profoundly lonely. John Eden was no good company to keep when Alexander did get his father’s time, but even though he did have a harem of women raising him, none wanted to go against the wishes of The Father despite how miserable the boy actually was. Even so, Alex  showed signs of a high I.Q as well as an aptitude for computer sciences at an early age, just as the age of the internet came to be a more prominent part of life. This proved useful to John, and so he began training his son in both technology, as well as to be his business partner from day 1, encouraging him to use his talents for the greater good and unknowingly allowing the boy to make his own key to freedom.

Alex escaped the compound at the age of 15 when he programmed a blackout of the ranch’s security systems, wiped his identity from their databases, turned all the information over to the FBI, and ran off into the night without a word. Since then, he has not returned, and as hard as they might to try and find him, it seems as though Alexander Gabriel Eden has simply fallen off the face of the Earth.

Though “Charlie” has many identities in his back pocket, Charles Phillip Copeland has come to be the one that he uses the most. After 12 years of moving around the country in a paranoid flurry, Charlie finally decided to try and lay down some roots in Oleander, a seemingly invisible town only known by a few magic types as being an undetectable pocket that the rest of the world doesn’t know about, completely unmarked by any map that’s used nowadays. He’d been to Oleander a few times for business, but it wasn’t until 2014 that he decided to stay for good. Even accepted a job offer from the town’s Chief of Police, Nezumi Miyawaki, to become their technical analyst and officer. He has been there since.

To Charlie’s surprise, though, in 2018, a young man named Jaxton Collis had runaway to Oleander from his home all the way in Indiana.
