Mei is just a girl that wants to make pretty clothes... Unfortunately she gets angry very easily (seemingly) out of nowhere, so she can't make any deals with fashion studios or get commissions from people. This doesn't stop her from trying her best though, she works tirelessly to perfect her craft. In the meantime she gets by from working at entree-level jobs, like supermarkets and stuff. She gets fired from those jobs regularly as well due to her temper. 

Mei grew up in a fairly rich family. Her parents tried to force her to become a lawyer or a docter. Mei worked on school for many hours each day (and night) since she was 6, resulting in her skipping a couple grades. She started med school at 16, but the pressure was so intense she had to drop out. Her parents where disappointed in her and kicked her out. Ever since then she has decided to follow her dreams and become a fashion designer! (Altough it's not working out for her...yet)
