The clicking of heels on tile echoed uncomfortably loud in wide, empty hall. Gwen watched her beaten field boots as they followed, subtle and muted comparison.

Her company's voice rang out, just as loud as her heels. "Honestly I don't see why DOS would send and inspector all the way out here for a careless accident. It very clearly wasn't the facilities' fault."

Her voice seemed to bounce off the facility's bland walls. Gwen tried very hard not to hate it.

She responded with her own, which felt soft in comparison. "It's not my job to know, just to check boxes."
"Well pointless or not, you are welcome to poke around. We don't get to show off very often, and head staff will get a kick out of impressing you." She smiled in a fake, professional way, "Poor fellows don't get out much, feel free to give me a call if they try to chat your ear off."

She pulled out her phone and pretended to take notes as she opened the video camera. "This is a room and board set up then?"
"Oh yes! We believe it is best that everyone becomes as familiar as possible with our work space to prevent - well, avoid accidents."

They stopped at a bleak looking intersection. There were no distinguishing signs, only a colored line running down each.
The woman pointed down each fork. "Living quarters are along the west of the west branch, the control room is across from them- that's blue line. The Cafeteria is in the middle and the docks are beyond that- that's the red; and the stables are the east wing- green. Daryl will give you a map, in case you get confused."
"You wouldn't have anyone free to show me around would you?"
"Unfortunately no, we do have a bit of a mess to clean up. I'm afraid it's all hands on deck until we exterminate the hacked unit."
"It's not exterminated already?!" Memories of watching hacked units suddenly jump to life and rip through their own defenses tried to floor Gwen's mind. A little burst of adrenaline shook her, but she ignored it. This was too important, and besides, she wasn't going anywhere near the stables today.

Her guide shrugged in a lady like way.
"It seems the driver is quite clever. A shame he's already committed so many felonies, I'd like to hire him!"
"A shame. Just to be clear though, the unit has been captured, correct?"
"Oh absolutely. We couldn't call ourselves professionals if it had been aloud to wander for more then an hour!"
"I'm glad to hear it."
The woman laughed, "Oh don't fret about the unit, I assure you, this is the safest biotec lab that's ever been built. I would be confident in letting a civilian such as yourself wander alone!" She seemed to believe it, though Gwen did not- Could not. She'd seen to much.

She was about to ask for a guide when the woman clapped her hands together suddenly. "In fact! Wouldn't you like to see our dismantling procedure? Surely the inspection office would be please to know we are handling the situation quickly and efficiently?"

"Uh, I'm not sure-"

"Nonsense, I want the desk goons down there to know for a fact that this whole kerfuffle is done and in the past. Come come, right this way!"

The woman led her down the green line. Gwen followed, reluctantly. She had known this job was going to be hard when she took it, now she had to show some grit.
