"The choice is yours, my friend: pay the price... or pay with your life."

A clownfish hybrid with humble origins turned living legend, the Admiral of the Reefer Pirates' Armada, and the Northern Cardinal of the Caputean Ocean.

Despite his skills for mediation, charisma, bargaining and commerce since a young age, Barrière desired adventure more than anything, thus joining a small pirate crew as its quartermaster. After setting sail from Saphra, despite a few successful assaults, they were easily shredded by far more experienced pirates later on. Barriére, as the youngest of the crew, was the only one spared thanks to his persuasion convincing the enemy captain of his usefulness, though not before an eye was gouged out from him by the captain to keep himself satisfied. Ultimately, this event made him realize he may not be best cut out for such dangerous endeavors, but learnt that his charisma could get him by almost anything.
Immediately throwing his recently "sworn" loyalty out of the window, he left the ship as soon as he could, escaping to Cenedra. There, he found many people willing to join him in his new crew, the Reefer Pirates. Although small at first, they steadily increased in influence through the good relations Barrière kept with Cenedran locals, usually through defending villages from hunter raids, and trading goods in small towns. From rags to riches, with Barrière's charisma, the Reefers became even more favored by the public than the Navy of Cenedra.
Eventually, the Reefer Pirates have reached their current peak, now with the north of the Caputean Ocean and South of Unda Major under their domain. Responsible for tolls in the seas splitting the continents of Cenedra and Saphra, justified by the protection they claim to bring to such waters, they established a mostly diplomatic relationship with traders and the Navy, rarely ever resorting to violence. The Reefer Pirates are mostly structured like a proper enterprise, rather than typical crews.
Many hybrids often join their ranks looking for simple jobs, with humans being an extremely rare sight aboard any of their ships.
