Story

Mushroom elves are closely intertwined with the Guardian of Kanan (reminiscent of the complex relationship between fungi and trees through Mycorrhiza). She can sometimes hear Shinrin's thoughts and feelings and can help communicate that to others.

• Based on the enoki mushroom, Flammulina filiformis.
  • It is well known for its role in Japanese cuisine, where it is called enokitake (榎茸, エノキタケ), and is widely cultivated in East Asia.
  • The fungus is found on dead wood of broad-leafed trees in China, Korea, and Japan.
