Asher "Bloodbeard" Mariah

Captain of the Drought Pirates, aboard the Blood Vessel, and the Western Cardinal of the Caputean Ocean.

    Consisting of vampires who act only at night, preying on those unfortunate enough to come across their path. They also have devoted human servants, responsible for manning the ship during daytime, while the vampires sleep.
    Despite being actually clean shaven, he has earned his epithet after terrifying tales, depicting his mouth as constantly bloodied, with the taste of fresh victims still on his tongue.

    Though originally hailing from Tirenadh, he lived in exile in a village to the south. A bastard born to the Mariah Clan, one of prestigious, traditional hunters, his very existence was a disgrace to the family's name. With his father executed, his disgraced mother ran far away with him in her arms, eventually reaching a small unnamed village in the savannah. Even though his ancestors have left him, his bloodline has not: he grew up as a hunter for the village, unwittingly leading to its eventual downfall. As the village's population grew, so did the neccessity for hunting, and although the local hunters could keep up with the demand, the animal populations could not. This led to accidental famine, but it did not stop Asher. He did what he did best, and continued to hunt, even if the prey was his own folk.
     Eventually, together with a few remaining vampiric survivors of such tragedy, he started to travel, seeking to feed on anyone unfortunate enough to come across their path, eventually reaching the eastern Cenedran shore. There, they established their own crew, the Drought Pirates. Though their numbers are still as low as since their foundation, with only an unlucky few joining their ranks over the years, they remain extremely powerful thanks to their vampiric bodies.
