Tera Sage (born November 13, 2XXX), also known in the hero community as Acitera^[1], is a student of Schuyler University's Rescue course. Originally from Crown Point, Indiana, they moved to Chicago as a teenager, before eventually relocating to Boston to attend Schuyler University.

Quirk Information

With a quirk named Acid Spit, there is not much guesswork to be done surrounding it's nature. This quirk boasts an increased production of highly acidic saliva. The acid in this saliva is able to break down a handful of materials. This includes concrete, soft metals (aluminum and tin being among the easiest), and most types of stone and plant matter.

Quirk Limitations

• Speed and Amount of Saliva Production: Even though it's increased in production, they can still only produce so much in a certain amount of time- due to this, they tend to glass bottles of their spit on them when on missions. Gross. (Also when not on missions too, just to have backup for during missions.)
• Bad Taste + Breath: Constantly has an awful taste in their mouth thanks to the acidity and has to drink a lot of water to keep their production up.
• Dry Mouth: When they over use their quirk their mouth dries up and it's painful for them-! When suffering from dry mouth, they have an even harder time speaking, their remaining saliva seems thick/stringy, and both chewing and swallowing is difficult for them. Drinking water helps this but if their quirk is just overused it doesn't completely solve the problem until between one to two hours later.
• Inhibitors of Saliva Production: While things like caffeinated drinks do nothing to slow their saliva production, sugarless gum, hard candy, and smoking (cigarettes or otherwise) all cause their saliva production to slow down greatly, actually slowing it down to less than normal, though not quite causing them to suffer from dry mouth.
• Cannot break down a number of more reinforced things- main things on this list include harder metals/gems, glass, rubber, and certain enamels.

Quirk Information

While Boston was under attack during the summer of in XX19, certain Schuyler University students took part in quirk fusion experiments. Fusing with their best friend, Uko Laskaris, Tera's quirk became known as Corrosive Waters. This fusion granted them the ability to manipulate their already acidic saliva, able to move it without touching it. Additionally, the fusion granted them the ability to control other primarily water-based liquids that had very low (acidic) pH balances.

Fused Quirk Limitations

• Emotion controls saliva production- higher emotions, more saliva produced, lower emotions, only average to below average saliva production.
• Limited in distance- while able to attack from a slightly better range now, their ability to manipulate the acid breaks down after around ten feet.
• Cannot control other forms of water (ice, vapor)

The fusions went away after the events of the Villain Takeover, however, all those who took part in it have been left with a white stripe in their hair.

Bursting at the seams normally with anxiety, Tera does their best to just... hide their emotions from those around them. Typically unable to relax and always a bit jumpy, the only time they do end up relaxing around others is when they are those close to them or the situation absolutely requires it.

Typically self-depreciating, at least in a joking manner, Tera is actually surprised that they've even made it into the rescue program and will joke around that they're not really all that useful or just in general about their self. It's a sense of depression that really fuels their jokes. Sort of uses them as a form of grounding at times as well- it's hard to break old habits.

However, they're not all just anxiety and self-deprecation. When they're really focused, Tera has a gentler side to them, more mature and focused in on the task at hand, wanting to do their best to not cause too much additional panic in the situation in the case of an emergency or just needing to aid those around them. It's this gentler side that really drives them to be a hero- they want to help others and seeing those around them in an emergency situation panicking or stuck- knowing the feeling and fear. They just have to help, and they know how to do it, from years of experience.

Additionally, when not face-to-face with others, they have a strong tendency to put on a mask of sorts with their personality, or rather have an easier time with bringing out the part of their personality that only comes with those they're close with, growing snarkier and more willing to joke and jest with those around of them, almost letting off an air of confidence at times.

Another time when they're noticeably more relaxed and cheerful is when they're with those that they're used to- they have an incredibly soft spot for those who make their way into their heart and become far more carefree and joking with their friends. Tera holds their friends close and very important to them. They also hold the word of their friends very importantly, being more likely to believe what they tell them over that of others.

Born in Crown Point, Indiana, Tera's family has never been exactly... well off. With just their mother around, from a young age, they came to realize that they weren't really... cared for by their mom, more tolerated and cared for just enough to really survive. Early on in youth, they learned that it was best to just be quiet and to keep to themself when it came to their mom.

Discovering their quirk around kindergarten, it was brought to the attention of others when they spit on another one of the kids in class during an argument, essentially burning the kid where the spit made contact, as well as places on their own arms. Getting scolded for this, the young kid was made begin to wear a mask for at least the rest of the year, being repeatedly told that they should never do that to another kid.

As they got older, Tera simply decided to keep the mask, it made things easier- it let them stay quiet, mostly. Keeping to themself during their schooling, they eventually got... tired of their rocky home life, and decided to attempt to run away as they reached their mid-teens. Making it to Chicago, it didn't take too long for them to get found and taken back home, but they just.. did it again, and again until their sixteenth birthday, getting the approval of their mother and court systems to get emancipated. Legally changing their name at this point, they bounced around for a while before finally finding a place to settle in with a part-time job in a town on the outskirts of Chicago and returned to high school to finish their schooling.

It was while they were finishing up their high school life that they started to pick up more of an interest in going to the hero spectrum of things, originally thinking about going into a medicine program. Making a few friends who motivated them and continually hearing things from their classmates around them, they slowly became determined to try to get into the rescue program- they wanted to help those around them and try to lend a supporting hand to those going through tougher situations. So, they started studying harder and looking more and more into what requirements they might need to match. They wanted to help. They wanted to prove that they could do it, both to themself and to others that knew them. It made them busy, but being busy was good for them and just motivated them to work even harder to accomplish their goal.

Graduating with far better grades than they'd had most of their schooling, Tera immediately begun looking for a full-time job and any form of scholarships that they could so that they could get into a proper hero academy. It was then that they discovered Schuyler University and made it their official goal.

Scrambling to try to find internships, they eventually find one, going back to working a part-time job as they invested themself into their internship, determined to make a better impression as they aided with smaller rescues, occasionally making use of the American Sign Language that they picked up during their schooling for some of them, and using their knowledge of dealing with their own anxiety to help calm others while getting them out. Eventually finishing their internship, they finally took the step to try-out for Schuyler, hoping that they'd be chosen for at least a chance at the entrance exam.
