The diary of Hareum Shim lies a sensitive insecurity for acknowledgment and attention. To find worth in self against the pile of familiar expectations is near impossible, only achievable to someone as perfect as her one idol: Glory. Her jar is half empty, always, for a gaping crack at the bottom of the cup continues to lose love as she takes from others.

The story Hareum "Glamour" Shim, youngest child to Gambit Shim and Galore Shim, cannot be told in isolation from the rest of the Shim family. Her legacy belongs to her family, as her family belongs to her. Excerpts from the Shim records have been carefully retrieved for a concise read.

The Shim family^[1] found its roots early in the conversion period. For as long as sarcoda existed, there loomed the ambitious Shim family to oversee the next era of greatness…

…In the year 1992 AR, another member was documented to the Shim family tree. Shim Hareum, youngest of the Glimpse generation. With the next youngest sibling 40 years older than her, Hareum became the star child: A child showered with attention and coddled in love.


...Per fate's quill, the Shim family was to experience one loss per generation. When Glimpse -- the eldest child of Hareum's generation -- fell ill, it was a mere signature to pre-written destiny. Contract signed, Glimpse succumbed to her mysterious illness three years after her initial encounter. The funeral was a formality, and life went on for the rest of the Shim family.


Hareum, at 18 years old, experienced loss for the first time. The departure of Glimpse Shim left a portion of her chalice spilled, but not cracked. Her seniors paved a path that she followed: Stepping stones scattered across a river of grief. With crossing made simple, Hareum reached the side of acceptance faster than the bounder had time to plummet. The attention poured into her chalice by Glimpse was replaced by that of Glory. And just like that, her goblet was once again filled to the brim.


The Shim family rite of passage: As far as Hareum was aware, this was a tradition passed down since the family's humble beginnings. At 19 years old, she would adopt the name "Glamour", an alias that marked her baptism into the family business.


Glory, next in line to inherit her father's position in the company after Glimpse's passing, took Glamour under her wing. For the next few years, Glamour shadowed Glory as her secretary. Although Glamour was nothing like their sister, they were able to assimilate into the workplace comfortably within a year.

...Long sarcodan lifespans meant inheritance was a rare occurrence - only to happen upon the passing of parent. There was a stipulation in the Shim family rules, in the interest of infinite growth: To allow power transfer from the hands of a living parent to child, the child must prove their worth. For the child, this was a real-world examination that would determine when it was time for new to overwrite old. [...]

[...] Glory's decades of decisive leadership left nothing but astounding results: Increase in market share and a dominating sweep against direct competitors. Her actions were in stark contrast to her father, Gambit, a cautious and calculating figure. The two doubted and debated decisions, as they vied for influence within the company. The man was a stubborn perfectionist. Although he, alongside his wife Galore, had high hopes for their new heir, it would take him 6 years after Glamour's introduction before he finally retired. And thus, Glory's dynasty began, marking her the youngest heir to succeed her parents.

For Glamour, Glory's ascension meant that they could no longer cling to their sister for attention. Rather, their constant pestering for her time only served to irritate the ever-busy sister. In a last-ditch effort to force Glamour to mature, she enrolled Glamour to her alma mater, Lapis Liberi Academia [...] with a challenge etched in stone: If she so desired the love of people, she would spend time in academy learning exactly how to win the masses.
