A high-ranking Hegemony officer. Very professional. (by their standards, anyway.)
While most H-Mon higher-ups tend to stay out of the public eye, Calvan shows himself a bit more. He has become one of the more well-known faces associated with the faction.
He spends a lot of his time planning manhunts for specific rogues, yelling at immature rookies, and regulating conditions in the Hegemony's mining industry, in which some say he can be really harsh and unfair. Some say he's been involved in a bit more dubious work, but majority brush it off as a rumor.
Despite this, he has done a lot of good for the Hegemony, and those who live alongside it. He "Does what is best for the faction", in his own words.
He rotates between being proud of the faction's rookies, almost akin to that of a father watching their child accomplish something, and being severely, severely disappointed in them.
He has a habit of "preparing for his retirement", or claiming that he can't wait to retire from his rank. Deep down however, he knows he'll never be able to truly leave the faction.
He claims to be very proud of his baldness.
Despite being a Hegemony General, Calvan smokes BlueRay. He does it in secret because "a General with a high dignity should know better than to smoke", in his own words.
(Not to mention the fact that in most Hegemony-regulated systems the drug is illegal.)
Very few people know about this, and he wants to keep it that way.
Many Hegemony officers have had to start "campaigns" to try to prevent people from trying to "smack General Calvan's bald ahh head" (quote). This event has gotten many people fired. ย ย Jesus Christ.
He believes that if it were not for them, the faction would have remained "pure". That he would not have to follow such horrible conduct. That he had been "cursed" by them into doing these things. But the fear of being put to death, or letting the secrets get out, kept him going. The Hegemony had saved him from a horrible fate. He missed how noble he thought the faction was as a kid.
He hated what they had "done to him". But he never stopped. Never considered that he was as bad as them... Or, at least, he never wanted to admit it.
Over time he managed to manipulate himself into believing that everything he does is the right decision, the right thing to do for the faction. That the past events were for good. He tried to see the former generals as role models.
Sometimes, though, while he stares out the window of his dreadnought, thinking to himself, he misses the Hegemony he had perceived as a child.
Then he shrugs it off and gets back to work.
